WWE was dumb not paying Ospreay, to be honest. He's a better wrestler and talker than guys like Rollins. With the WWE machine behind him, Ospreay would be a gigantic star.

AJ Styles became a big star in WWE and he's not as good on the mic as Ospreay is.

People who say things like "what did x wrestler really add to AEW..." aren't seeing the bigger picture. AEW is cold. AEW is going to stay cold until the booking improves and is consistent.

Saying "Ospreay adds nothing" is like saying "Jade Cargill adds nothing." WWE signed Jade because they have a good feeling that they can get her where she needs to be.

They would have been able to do the same with Ospreay but some posters are dumb and think everything is a "stan war"

As for Mercedes, she just sold close to ~10k tickets on speculation for a show she wasn't advertised for. There's not another woman (or hardly any men) who would have done the same. That's star power. WWE should have just bit the bullet and paid her what she deserved.

Is WWE hurting by it? No... but they are paying a bunch of women who get no reaction on the main roster so why not just release them and pay Mercedes. Easy call.

I do think she'll eventually get back around to WWE.

The success of All In and AEW’s salary structure changed the game for free agency. Don’t have to go to WWE to make big bucks anymore. Don’t have to go to WWE to get that 50K+ stadium show match anymore.

AEW going to offer all these people more money, less work, better schedule, more freedom (particularly creatively, living arrangements, and working outside bookings),

WWE’s recruiting pitch is basically “we’ll pay you in vibes and exposure.” Which is great if you’re looking to get into other entertainment fields once you’re done wrestling. But let’s be honest, 99.9% of these people won’t amount to shyt as actors.
