It's like that because they should stop counting streams as sales in the first place. Streaming should strictly be streaming. Streams shouldn't count towards an album sale because it isn't the same. There shouldn't be a sales equivalent.

They should just make the charts, certifications, and what not reflect streams. Those numbers shouldn't be combined because no matter how many times an album is streamed, it isn't the same as a sale. It's like counting the amount of times someone listened to a song or an album they bought as opposed to tracking how many times the song or album was purchased. Two entirely different things.

EXACTLY. shyt is fugazi as fukk. This whole post is how I feel about it. The music industry is literally the ONLY form of entertainment that does that.

No receipt No sale
I keep it simple...

Streaming counting as sale will go down as one of the dumbest things invented by human kind

It should be digital n physical copies only
No dumb bundle shyt. No bots

Then come up with a formula to compensate the artist for actual plays through these platforms..

i agree reconfigure the sales charts but streams should count as sales

when you paying a recoccuring fee it should count towards something, i didnt have to pay a fee monthly to play tapes.

then artists would be forced to stop streaming records, but it's impossible to go back. Music is a uniquely consumed form of entertainment.

Remember the early YouTube days where they couldn't put up a song without it being cleared or if they did the audio would be slowed down or sped up or altered so the user wouldn't get sued? If the stream didn't count as a sale, we'd have to go back to relying on someone stealing a copy from a press plant and leaking it, or a different situation where the album would drop, but it wouldn't be allowed to stream til 2-3 months later so fans would have to buy the record, and even then, the physical stores that sell albums aren't as available.

Remember the early YouTube days where

breh your wildly off the path and clearly out the loop

youtube applies by the same rules

When did this happen? I can’t find it anywhere RIAA and other sources are still saying 1,500

i genuinely want to believe but some proof is in order
