How many miles? What are the symptoms? Did it overheat?

The waterpump? I'd be fukking crying.

:damn:

How long is it down for?

What warranty do you have?

Whats cleaning cost you? Is it from carbon build up?

:damn:

It's a pretty common problem with these cars. Apparently if you have code reader, the ECU usually starts throwing "shadow" codes about a month before telling you that the pump isn't working as it should.

I went to lunch today and had no heat and the engine fan was on full blast. No check engine light but I knew what was up. I thought I could get it to the dealer but halfway there a red coolant light came on and basically shut down the engine. After that I called the tow truck. :damn:

In a normal car you watch the temp gauge but since there is none, the car just goes ahead and turns off the car for you. There are no symptoms, I just knew it was going to happen sometime.

I've only got 58.8K. BMW CPO warranty. This is a $1400 repair without the warranty.

As for the cleaning, its a special one BMW does that basically blasts the intake ports with walnut shell stuff. It looks like sand. The chemcial clean won't even phase these cars. The dealer wants $750 but I'm getting it done by a local shop for $300. :manny:

This is a direct injection issue since fuel doesn't "wash" the intake like on a port injected car it's prone to carbon buildup. $400 every 60,000 miles is a small price to pay for the advantages of direct injection. You gotta pay to play... :manny:

Nah. Lexus got it right with the extra port injector and GM has no problem with DI either. That's bad design.

Actual that's "dual injection" you are referring to...

I had my intake valves cleaned at a little over 50k and BMW's carbon buildup is nowhere near as bad as the carbon build up in VAG direct injection engines, the RS4 in particular....My valves had very little build up and I wasn't experiencing any issues at the time. :ehh:

Buy an ounce or get my valves cleaned(when I shouldn't have to in the first place)?

:ehh:
