The album is too long, had some wack sh1t, and wasn't as big as it should've been given the producers and features. That said, it's a good album and at least better than a few of his albums. There's maybe 10 really dope songs on there.

The year 3030
I remember Dame being on Rap City saying every week an album from Rocafella was dropping in October and if it didn't his name aint Dame Dash :russ:

Does anyone remember or have the BP2 promo commercials. Jay was rapping some verses from songs from the album accapella.

I remember there being commercials for Hovi Baby, A Dream and The Watcher. I remember for the Watcher he was doing hand signs and had a retarded look doing it similiar to :huhldup:when he said the rappers being bangers line.
i remember when he was on angie rappin verses off the album as freestyles

Negativity (Kayfabe)
There's a handful of great tracks, some trash then some of the most awkward music ever made. That pathetic ass get the last word in Nas diss on the title track .....the Biggie talked to me from the dead to tell me how great I am intro :gucci: that Me and My Girlfriend garbage :bryan:

People overrate how bad some of the bad songs are

Yes;

It Was All A Dream is hilarious

Me & My Girlfriend got worst with time because you learn how much Pac hated Jay--but, it's a good single.

2 Many Hoes
Meet the Parents
A Ballad for the Fallen Soldier
fukk All Nite

(2 versions of) What They Gonna Do
As One

These are the only bad to out of place songs

Blueprint 2 sounds like a Jay-Z mixtape

should've been 1 disc (but not what 2.1 became)

U don't know rmx, show you how, meet the parents, hovi baby, poppin tags, as one, some how some way, watcher 2 were my fave tracks

That A Dream intro could've been an interesting concept, but it was just Hov sucking himself off through biggie

I did like the shyt he did for Bad Boys II around this time
According to Guru, he blames himself for having the album go 2 discs. He said that he pressured Hov to make it a double album because Pac and Biggie did and he needs to prove himself as one of the greats.

He said in hindsight the album was full of filler and it should have just been one disc. Hence why they tried to savage it with 2.1.

I remember downloading a leak of the album in Real Media format and having to convert each file to mp3 individually and burn to a CD. What a time that was

The album itself was a fukkin mess lol. The intro with Big, and then Watcher with Rakim and Dre, a bunch of Timbo and Neptunes beats that weren't that great. Overall it had its moments, but it was a bloated mess of a follow-up to a classic album

My funny/bittersweet childhood story about this album:

The anticipation was so high for this, coming off The Blueprint, I saw Jay on tour, I saw him perform the A Dream live in September 2002, it had the whole game holding it's breath, leaked songs, Hot 97 premieres, it was incredible.

I got in A LOT of trouble as a teenager, I was kicked out young from my house, and did everything you hear about, hustling, smoking blunts, mom found my stash, money and drugs. I did it all. So, one night in early November 2002, I ended up getting too drunk and my homies couldn't find me, because I wasn't answering my phone, so I ended up getting caught, staggering home drunk, throwing up, my Mom had to take care of me, really embarrassing, really bad scene for a single parent.

When I woke up the next morning, I knew I was in trouble, and the first thing I thought of, in my selfish, myopic adolescent insolence, when I started coming out of my fog was

At least the Blueprint 2 is dropping next week

lol

I never bought into the over the top bravado from Jay Z. It always sounded like it came from a place of insecurity. Like he is trying to convince you that he's that guy.

Even this interview you see he is just a timid soft spoken negroe. He didnt get girls and he was getting chased through buildings.

He needed too much validation for my liking.

Now Biggie his charisma and confidence was through the roof he didnt have to remind you in every track that he's that guy. In fact he even told you he was ugly. Jay Z would never admit that and be that honest.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high

Damn i'm getting old....i remember this leaking on SOHH :flabbynsick:

And everyone shytting on it :mjlol:

But I never hated it....i'd definitely put it above a few of his weaker albums.

Hovi Baby is lowkey one of Hov's best songs....wild Just Blaze beat and Jay killed that shyt. There's a handful of great tracks, some trash then some of the most awkward music ever made. That pathetic ass get the last word in Nas diss on the title track .....the Biggie talked to me from the dead to tell me how great I am intro :gucci: that Me and My Girlfriend garbage :bryan:

Whole album is a mess musically....I remember the initial hype of the album was that they were gonna use rock samples like they used soul samples on The Blueprint, which sounded intriquing but it wasn't even really a factor on the album ouside of Guns and Roses.

Punchdrunk post-Ether Young Chris biting Hov :wow:

Classic album
