You're right, this is offtopic (cuz lightskin doesn't always = biracial) but i'll respond to this anyway

Only insecure black people think this.

Its one thing to chastise WS for pitting fully black people against each other based on complexion
Its something completely different to do the exact same fukkin thing to each other

Listen carefully to how some darkskin black people talk about lightskin black people and they will sound exactly like white racist shyt is embarrasing

My only issue with this conversation is when we blame ourselves for hollywood's portrayal of us.
Darkskin blaming lightskin for roles being lost
Lightskin blaming darkskin for typecasting

Blame hollywood.. stop colorism in-fighting

100...

Its even worse now, now they straight up just removing the darker skin women from the mix entirerly and replacing them with biracials :francis:

I was watching this show on TNT called I am the night that takes place during Jim Crow era (or right after).
You wanna know who the black main character is?

Yooooooooo :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:"

turned that shyt off with the quickness :dead:

I could be the greatest TV show of all time for all I know, but i'm not watching something where this is supposed to be a "colored" person :martin:

I watched that TNT "I Am the Night" miniseries a couple months ago.

The main character's biological white mom admits to her in the penultimate episode that her bio Father is actually the same dude who is her bio GrandFather (She's a product of incest), not a black man like she'd been claiming all these years. Her bio mom admits that she made up the story of the Father being black because she never knew any white folks she could trust and was fan of black folks & the civil rights movement.

These sista have been the leading black actress
The whole biracial actress stuff is mainly myth
Angela Bassett
Gabrielle Union
Sanaa Lathan
Keri Washington
Tariji p Henson
Luptia
Sherri Shepard
Man, the whole crop of new, ie under 40, “black” actresses being cast in A list/blockbuster films are biracial

Tessa Thompson
Zoe kravitz
Zoe Saldana (well not biracial, but a :mjpls: Afro Latina meant to repsrent Black women in many of her roles)
Zendaya
Yara Shahidi
Amandla Sternberg

Even a few who aren’t a list just yet but getting roles:
Alexandra Shipp
Kiersey Clemons
Gugu Mbatha Raw
Logan browning
Laura harrier
Amber Stevens
Zazie Beetz
Nathalie Emmanuel

Who is the under 40 “regular black” light/med/dark skin actresses (because I have NO problem with two black parent light skin folks - ie me) other than lupita, and I guess Janelle Monae since she’s transitioning to acting, and maybe the chick from she’s gotta have it, who are getting first run roles? Edit: forgot Issa Rae

Y’all need to stop conflating light skin with biracial (or as some of you keep saying “exotical”). I don’t see many, if any, regular light skin African American women getting roles like that either...I do not see myself in biracial women even if we share the same color, we very often have different characteristics from hair texture to lips noses etc to how we’re perceived and desired...stop creating a collective catch all

@dora_da_destroyer totally. And you see the impact that this has on black kids particularly black girls.

It’s not just hollywood, it’s advertising...also a lot of media agencies are based in LA, many black Women have mention how California is very antiblack when it comes to black women particularly.

When you look back in the 90s New York which has a lot of Afrocentric and multiethnic blacks dominated the music/entertainment scene which reflected on black women and girls representation. It was not perfect but it wasn’t as insidious as it is now. Now that Cali which is very pro light skinned/mixed race/Hispanic environment for women you see this trickle down to advertising/ Just about everywhere in media.

It’s not surprising that many entertainers who settle in Cali/LA scene end up if not already unapologetic colorists. Black entertainment became trash when BW became fazed out for mixed Hispanics and biracials and became the playground of only dark skinned men. A lot of black entertainment became soulless due to the separation of the sexes.

What I find the most disgusting is even black people tokenizing brown skinned women like there can only be one at a time and nitpicking black girls for everything (this site is a huge culprit). Everytime someone wants to mention a pretty black girl that isn’t biracial it’s Kelly Rowland or Brya Myles or actresses that are nearly in their 50s.

Yet when I check out Instagram...or any media platform that focuses on black women....pretty brown skinned BW are the majority.

Even in movies directed by and for black people we have this issue, so it's not just Hollywood.
Always a dark skinned black male lead and a biracial female lead.

Dope, all three of the female leads were biracial while the main character was a darkskinned black male.

Two of these movies come out this year. Anyone denying this agenda is just being willfully ignorant.
ANd nikkas in here trying to push the narrative that black men face just As much as colorism as black women when there are More dark skin black male actors being represented in mainstream Hollywood than their female counterparts by TRIPLE!

Funny how other posters have been preaching the same ish on this site and it’s shutup. Colorism is an ugly dark skinned women problem.

Now it’s oh ya black boys get it too. This isn’t only issue in Hollywood/media/advertising. It extends to society at large.

But I am glad people are talking about this more and not letting the deflections steer them away from this topic.

The coli talks about women BS but operates like a typical women clique.

Thank God for Chrissie on YouTube and BLACK women doing the work behind the scenes to push this issue at the forefront. As well as people being honest about it as admiring it being rampant behind the scenes: Jermaine Dupree, Matthew knowles, it being talked about on We are the Campbells, People blasting it on social media, Amara La Negra, etc...

And you dudes out here who discredited black women for years now complaining about this cause it’s happening to you now can HYON.

I do thank the men out here who knew it was an issue and always advocated for darker skinned women. There’s a few of you, so y’all get your props.
Black men are slowly feeling it as well

I see it happening a lot in sports . Biracial men are starting to be the stars and dominate in basketball, football and other sports :mjlit:
