The Mississippi-born 97-year-old has been cutting hair since 1944 when he began his barber business with nothing more than a chair in a shoe shine parlor.
As his business grew, he started sharing his knowledge with others. Because he knew there were many young men , who wanted to get into barbering, but they couldn’t. So he started teaching them and helping them. What he got from this is the results, their happy faces and happy families, he saw these young people having a better life for themselves. This is what black people do- they give others opportunities to succeed, they support and help each other. Black comunity is strong.
