The late Maynard Jackson's Jackson Securities - one of the earlier African-American investment banks is merging with Bernard Beal's M.R. Beal & Co.

Atlanta-based Jackson Securities, a company founded by the late former Mayor Maynard Jackson in 1987, is merging with M.R. Beal & Co., a New York-based leading investment banking firm.

The combination of the two well-established minority-owned enterprises will establish a template for the future expansion and integration of similar firms into an expanded investment banking platform.

The African Renaissance Monument (French: Le Monument de la Renaissance africaine) is a 49m tall bronze statue located on top of one of the twin hills known as Collines des Mamelles, outside of Dakar, Senegal. Built overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Ouakam suburb, the statue was designed by the Senegalese architect Pierre Goudiaby after an idea presented by president Abdoulaye Wade and built by a company from North Korea. It is the tallest statue in Africa.
