Songs serviceable, largely saved my Nas's verses and hooks, proof that the beat doesn't have to insane
for the song to be good.
However once those same verses were put over an even better beat (like 9th's remix), shyt was on another tier.

9th made a better beat, but that's what a lot of people don't understand about production. All of those 9th beats are dope, but most of them don't fit the song. Take his version of "Warrior's Song" for example. All of the intensity and urgency is missing from the song because that beat doesn't match the tone of the song. It sounds like a nice blend. Same goes for "The Cross". Eminem's beat is bland, but it fits the tone of the song, which makes the song dope even if the beat isn't remarkable.

The 9th remix was my sh*t though. I played the hell outta God's Stepson when it hit online. That's back when 9th was at his best, so a lot of those remixes definitely added a little more life to the tracks. His version of "The Cross" was way better than Em's.
