Great fukking show. The cast really makes it pop. Every character in the restaurant, whether they get 2 minutes of screen time or are a main character for the episode, is compelling. It also has two of my favorite black characters on television recently. Sydney is such a standout, that actress is great! And Marcus is such a different, eccentric black (male) character you rarely see on television. Towards the end of the show they both have a scene at Sydney's home where they're just being...friends. It sounds weird but I love that dynamic. There is no cliche romance, it's just two characters being passionate about something they love: food, and culinary arts. I think that passion is what also makes the show work because you get invested in the success of the restaurant and Carmen righting the ship.
