the final season wasn't so good. but the first 9 seasons are strong. fiona left after season 9 which really sucked.

Like every other Showtime series: Seasons 1-5 very strong, S6 whatever, and from 7 til the end goes from weak to unwatchable.

Show hits different second time around. If he had made the spaghetti like Richie asked him to on the first episode?

The actors in the show all felt real to me. They all felt like people you would encounter if you spend enough time around restaurant staff or even just hanging out around town. That's acting

I kind of liked the show, but I agree. The writing is spotty and a lot of situations were pointless. The thing about the kids getting drugged that bothered me the most is that it had 0 effect on the story line. I thought they were going to set him up as being an addict and the thing with the kids being looked at like a low point, but they just treated it like no big deal and moved on from it to the next situation. Richie popping xanax was never a factor again after that. Weird thing to just randomly throw in.

I don't think any of that was random. this may be a reach but this is my interpretation.
When Carmy and Richie were hosting the bachelor party they were posted up in front of the Beef they were going back and forth about Mikey's addiction. Carmy was clueless about Mikey's addiction and Richie was feeling guilty about "not doing more" and being like "fukking addicts" this and that.

The irony is he himself is clearly a functioning addict and was probably using WITH Mikey. Addicts end up hurting themselves and people around them. They tend to think nothing of it. That was all AFTER his xannys literally dosed kids. You would think any normal person after doing that shyt would be like yea I have a problem lol

that didn’t really bother me, that just happened to be where they filmed the show at, if you weren’t from the city you’d have no idea really.

it was the stupid, not based in reality shyt like EVERYONE falling asleep cause of the punch, and that whole situation blowing over? like kids just got drugged? pulling the gun on some gamer kids outside the shop and firing a shot? why did they get a bullet thru their window again? cousin just got casually stabbed, no big deal. the fact that its a beef & hot dog joint and they never seem to be cooking those up? or have customers? or thats its a beef/dog place that doesnt do take out? they had like 5 customers the whole season, how that place still standing? the CORNY ass mob fight outside the place? CMON with how cheesy that shyt was. and what even came of it?

I dont know - has the quality of premiere TV fallen off this hard? I liked the show, and its well acted, but every episode would have these stupid, easy to fix holes that just irritated me. They never even showed how they got thru the fukk up of the online orders coming through in droves? Also why is a beef joint getting like 500 orders off online orders at like 10am. All the restaurant scenes were them just stressed out doing prep before the place opened. Its just odd. They could have tightened so much of this up.

Im generally surprised that everyone LOVES this show. Its cool, but am I going crazy here laughing at the not based in reality shyt going on, from a show that is supposed to be strictly tied to reality and not suspend disbelief?

What came of the mob fight? Richie than RATTED on them the. That was shocking.....and revealing....at least I thought so

The first mob fight showed how Sidney was new blood and uniting the staff and the block. making progress. Richie said fukk all that lol...he's been a hater/dinosaur

I'd have to rewatch, but I feel like that's where I thought they were going to go, but didn't. I crushed almost the whole season in one sitting at work, so maybe I missed something. If anything it could be something they follow up on in season 2.

I just did a re-watch. Trust me it deserves it. Like I said in a few posts above the Somalian cat Ebraham's had me rolling on the floor I somehow missed a lot of his lines. They packed a LOT in a show with like 20 run minutes. And the show is also Hectic and fast paced to capture the lifestyle. I definitely didn't properly digest off first watch.

First watch was enjoyable and I thought it was good....but I underrated it for sure.

Edit: I just remembered they did confirm they use to party together. During the flashback when Mikey was telling the story about being @ the bar @ 6:45 AM how drunk and high they were.
Than on Richie's date he was confused when his date looked disgusted and was like "you were @ a bar partying @ 645...." and Richie thought NOTHING was wrong with that. Instead he than was calling her a yuppy to Tina lol. Classic addict shyt
