"The DCU is clearly going to undergo some major changes, with tentpole projects such as Wonder Woman 3 now confirmed to be on the back burner. If not outright canceled. One element of the DC universe that will remain untouched by the creative hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran however is director Matt Reeves The Batman universe (via THR

“One part that the Gunn-Safran agenda seems likely not to touch, at least for now, is the Matt Reeves Batman universe in which Robert Pattinson dons the cowl of the Caped Crusader. Reeves is writing the sequel to The Batman, which opened in March 4. The filmmaker is also overseeing the launch of two Batman series that spin out of his movie, including The Penguin.”

Released in March this year, The Batman introduces an early version of The Dark Knight, picking up with a young Bruce Wayne just two years into his career as a crimefighter. Batman must venture into Gotham City's underworld when a sadistic killer named The Riddler leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, he must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropoli

Directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne aka The Batman, the movie sets out its own universe completely separate from the wider DCU and the likes of Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Aquaman. The plan is for Reeves to head-up his own, insular, Batman universe, with spinoff series centering on Colin Farrell’s Penguin and Arkham Asylum already in the works. Projects focussing on Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg are reportedly also in the early stages of development. Thankfully, it sounds like these plans will be unaffected by whatever else is going on as James Gunn and Peter Safran look to transform the DC

The Batman 2 is Currently Being Written by Matt Reeves & Mattson Tomlin

The Batman was not only met with rave reviews from critics, it has also been a major financial success, grossing over $770 million at the box office. While there had been some concern over the status of The Batman 2 amid the creative changes currently taking place at Warner Bros. Pictures, it has since been confirmed that Matt Reeves is now writing the sequel alongside Mattson Tomlin. Reports have also stated that The Batman star Robert Pattinson will reprise the role of the title characte

While things are looking good for The Batman and his world (in a creative sense, no doubt things are still pretty grim in Gotham), audiences could be waiting a while before sitting down to watch The Batman 2 in theaters. Though Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin have now put pen to paper, it has been claimed that The Batman 2 will not be released “until 2025 at the earliest

While the rest of the DCU is currently in a state of disarray, it sounds like the adventure has only just begun for The Batman

That sucks, I don’t think people honestly would care if there were two Batman’s in two different universes

Fans complain about everything though.. Gunn said himself.. he's gonna tell a story and "u can't please everyone" and that's esp. true when it comes to comic fans

If he wants to do it. I'm sure he just signed up for Reeves' vision, not some DCU shyt down the road. Should be interesting.

They could have that Batman series be the launch pad into connectivity or leave it alone altogether. im fine either way.. i just don't want sh-t shoehorned into Reeves movies.. it's gotta be logical

I'm positive there'll be a batman in the DC Movieverse
you have to have him :manny:
make him in his late 30's -early 40's with some of the bat family members
have the films be like gothic Captain America films
he needs to be the same age as superman though. none of this old grizzled batman stuff
eventually, though they'll have to give these other titles(Joker and The Batman) a different logo call it DC Black Label or something use it to win awards.

CEO said he don't want 2 Batmans so maybe Batinson ends up meeting other characters or Gunn doesn't bring in a Batman until Reeves is complete
This goes all the way back 20 years with the Bat Embargo. They didn't think that general audiences could handle more than one version of characters across one off movies and Saturday morning cartoons. It would just blow people's minds if Hamill and Heath were Joker at the same time.
