On the rare occasions that WWE decides not to create a clearly stereotypical persona for its black wrestlers, it makes them into “natural athletes,” a.k.a. Guy Who Is Strong. But this too is a stereotype, albeit a bland one.

c'mon man look at this shyt here

and this

it was found that sports media figures are more likely to refer to a white athlete as a student of the game or a technician, while they will refer to a black athlete as a “beast,” an “animal,” or a “machine.”

wtf

so no one has called hulk hogan a beast or animal? or even lex luger :laff:

Out of the 12 black wrestlers, only one is an original, distinctive character regularly featured on WWE television and who is not a racial stereotype. That's Victoria Crawford's Alicia Fox

:dahell: u kneegas co signing this yeah?

i dont care what anyone says but if you didnt like cryme tyme, u are a c00n

The Alicia Fox thing is weird because Alicia Fox is just another female caricature and not you know...portrayed as a human being.

only joking

but back to the last thing you said, i thought all rasslers are on raw and smackdown so its not divided anymore, so the last spanish/messican person was i guess del rio? was he not both on smackdown and raw? sure its the heavyweight belt but still its something, the wwe belt has had cena, bryan and orton in the last few months, maybe wwe feel that those guys draw more? i dunno but in way are the wwe trying to make the main black stars "grill-wearing, thuggish B-listers" (from the main article) like c'mon man when u see kofi, mizzark and langston, who the hell sees that? those guys are good in teh ring, Rtruth doesnt even come across that way to me even tho he raps but he's been doing that for a long time anyway. again i only see big e langston working his way to the top

When Kofi came out his gimmick was being Jamican and after a while he dropped the accent. Mark Henry had every stereotypical gimmick in the E. ( although I must say I did enjoy his sexual choocalte run) and R- truth first run just had him as a rapper. You are entitled to you opinion on Big E I just hope he gets a shot to get the belt one day.

And when they had both titles on one show the WWE title was always the more prestigious one because it is there title.

how can cryme tyme be offensive when people are living life like that? hood kneegas watch wwe too, they all cant relate to guys like stone cold or Danial byran i can i.d with them more than most of the rooster, again this is the same thing i said with the hillbilly and cowboy gimmics , the way it is its like wwe cant give the black guys anything to work with cause everybody has something to say, but hey cena still gets flack for everything he does so it cant be all bad ay.

As a black man who works for a living I found it horribly offensive that they had two black characters celebrating being petty criminals. People from the hood do not represent the vast majority of black people in america but that is how the vast majority of Americans see us. Now it prob would have been less offensive if they were smart about it but that gimmick they had went no where so it stayed as a offensive image of blacks in america.
I can't speak on cowboys and rednecks because I am not white and if a white person takes offensive at it then who I am to say you should not be offended.

Be offended by charterers brehs

im not sure if they changed after as i stopped watching wwe around 07 so you might be right with that, but again the whole petty criminals thing had a comedic side to it, it was light hearted, it wasnt serious like how undertaker is :manny:
