Exactly !! When my dad died...K Rino was there for me when no one else was, when my girl left.. He was there again... That's why he's the realest

Again you look at the comments and even that is touching, when my Dad died K-Rino was there for me when no-one else was, I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that, music being there for them when they felt like no-one else was, shyt is so powerful, "music is a magic beyond all what we do here" - Albus (if you know you know lol) and the word gift used is also an apt word. And inspirational, motivational and educational. There's been study on how Hip Hop can be used to assist mental health issues and it's true. Some of the artist themselves have had certain conditions.

[Intro: K-Rino]
Touch that iron enough times
You start realising that it's pretty hot
But at what point do you stop touching it? Come on
You know it never works but you keep doing it anyway
You know it never works but you keep trying it anyway

[Verse 1: K-Rino]
Real question, why do I indulge in things
That make it seem like I'm in love with pain?
Everybody speculating why the rug was stained
Cause the sweat and tears dried but the blood remained
Now I'm laying back thinking 'bout my cousin, man
I'm on some other sh-, like when the subject change
And the moment that I walked inside, judgement came
Cause I ain't have a dozen chains like Clubber Lang
I guess you could say that I sacrificed some pay
Cause I chose not to sign my whole life away
But anything in hindsight seems suffice to say
And even the broken clock is right twice a day
Now, my main affliction's a pain addiction
The same condition, but I won't change prescriptions
So by definition I'm insane, the custom is scuffing
Cause only a fool keeps going back to receive nothing

[Hook: K-Rino]

I must have a struggle addiction
Cause I won't change my troubled existence
I'm still living but something is missing
Keep doing the same thing, leading to the same pain
I really must love this condition
Cause I won't find another position
I'm too trifling and stubborn to listen
Keep doing the same thing, leading to the same name

[Verse 2: K-Rino]
Now despite people's envious ways, I'm feeling fine
Only dream that you seem to have is killing mine
I showed love they wasn't thinking about showing
While I was bringing 'em up, I was sinking without knowing
Enabling the slick-hearted to make my life harder
As I'm saving them from drowning they pulling me underwater
Dead weight brings you down, I wasn't knowing that then
It's best to cut a loose string than try to sow it back in
I blame me for failing to move on
Only fools keep walking on glass with no shoes on
Dedicated to my craft, it's been a turbulent ride
Sometimes it takes more away from me than what it provides
Still I keep coming back to it and taking a beating
Like a person who just won't leave somebody that's cheating
And if your plan fell through a few times, let me tell ya
One of the main ingredients of success is failure

[Hook: K-Rino]

[Verse 3: K-Rino]
See, be true, see through, every blatant and weak move
Deceitful people, Satan waiting to sweep you
Chase new breakthroughs, if you're struggling, make do
You can run for ever but you can never escape you
This learned behaviour was too vicious to discern
Never did you think that your life would be taking this turn
Nothing to be trusted at all, even the kiss burns
Not knowing the feeling of having something when it's earned
Sadly, crafty people seeking to grab me
Into the bottomless misery bag, try to add me
Plus you, now you in deep the pressure because you
Wondering if anybody actually loves you
Turn rat, one that you trusted in done that
Once that happens your confidence never comes back
Systems, twisted, spiritually conflicted
But if you're listening then you're in position to fix it

[Hook: K-Rino]

A song like this comes purely from suffering. It can't exist without that. It's like a gift and a curse to an artist.

Face is absolutely exceptional in this area too, that's why people love Face and he's almost like a made man in Hip Hop, he represented the hood all day every day, every album.

Street Life is also 1 of my favourite songs....

Up early in the morning lacin up my British Knights
Throwin up my deuce sign, fukkin with the street life
Never knew no better cause my mommy never taught me
Going out to get the shyt that mommy never bought me
Only ten years old and I can't stay away from trouble
But you don't give a fukk cause you ain't never had to struggle
And everybody's tellin me its get greater later
I need to get my shyt right now, cause it ain't shyt in my refrigerator
And I done struggled for my whole life
Seeing my moma layed up with a different nikka everynight
And when you see me you can spot a crook
Cause I'm going through her motherfukkin pocket book
I'm going out to get my papes
Cause she don't give a fukk about me anyway
And my daddy's doing two terms
And all she ever does is sit around and get served
My mommy never hugs me
I'm callin deuce my family, cause these nikkas say they love me
I'm steady dustin chumps off
And ready for the battle if the shyt would ever jump off
So send my ass to hell
Its eithr being covered up with some dirt, or boxed in a cell
Anyway that's what it looks like
If I don't hurry up and get my ass up out the street life

Chorus: (Spoken)

You know the streets is all I know
This is my way of survival
You know I've been dealt some bad cards
But I gots to play them
What else am I to do, look for a job?
But until them my family will starve and be broke
So I resort to the streets
As a source of income
I'm stuck here

I step out on my own block
And everyone's throwin up the deuce to little J-Rock
And all my little homies that I hang with
Are either jackin, or mixed up with this gang shyt
See it through reality
Never leavin the gang cause its the street life mentality
My homies got a proposition
Pulled the nikka off some change and said he'd help in my position
So now I'm rollin with the OGs
Puttin in work for the jack, for some overseas
And maybe in a year or two
I'll be able to roll in a Benz like the gangsta's do
Makin hoes ride dikk
Cause it's poor, broke gangster clique
Ain't hittin on shyt
I gotta lock my crew down
And sew this whole motherfukker up like the Jews town
Develop us a strong click
Break my pops off some dope while he rot
Pops would like that shyt
Seeing his little nikka on his own two
Doing shyt I heard my pops used to do
A real nikka to this crime thang
And had it going on before his time came
I gots to get my shyt right
Until my shyt gets right
I'm rollin with the street life

Chorus:

You know what upsets me
Is when whitey sits back in they lavish homes and BMWs
And tell me the streets ain't the place to be
See it from my prospective
Poverty strickin, livin on welfare
And the government cuttin that shorter every week
I'm shortin on education cause I'm black
The corner doesn't promise me a good life
But at least it shows me promise

Finally after shyt got right
I'm wanting out of the gang cause I'm searchin for a new life
But I remember what was said
You come in alive the only way you leave out is dead
So I'm kinda fukked on both ends
I thought I had friends, but I ain't got no fukkin friends
Cause if they were my friends they'd let me break
Outie five thousand fukk this shyt, I'm packin my 38
But first I gotta stay down
Until It's time for me to punch it out and just lay it down
And that's a motherfukkin shame
Tonight I gotta spill another ride with my little gang
So slowly I walked up to it
With no hesitation I broke the window and jumped into it
Unhooked his shyt and was headed off
I opened up the door that's what set it off
A nikka came out with a Glock jack
And put a slug in my motherfukkin back
And my so called friends
Want me out of the gang cause they don't know if I'll walk again
Now tell me what's that deuce life
fukked up myself for good cause I was wrapped up in the street life

Your name sounds familiar by the way. Think I may have heard about you before, not sure where.

But no doubt, it's extremely therapeutic, K-Rino actually had an album titled that in 2013. But yeah like Bob Marley said (later quoted by Dead Prez) "1 thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain". and maybe NO is a bit exaggerated but it certainly can lessen, sooth and help heal it lol. Music is magic.. it's completely irrational from a purely cynical mind state that it could be so miraculous and impactful but it's amazing what can be done through music, that's why I LOVE music. Condolences about your mum man, that is tragic, similar story with some people I know, lost their mum, 1 even both their parents and 3 brothers too, music was their release. A way to express themselves unlike no other and to feel like they made them proud and in a sense doing it FOR them. I think we all lost people we love/close to us cause it's an unfortunate part of life so I can relate, and music can be like a memory, a happy 1, or even a sad 1, but sharing that sadness in itself CAN be potentially therapeutic and healing. Music can be like a loyal consistent friend that is always there for you and never lets you down and will always talk to you lol. That's a metaphor for a song actually lol. But word, I feel exactly what you're saying, good luck with your music, I'm sure you will make your mum proud and keep putting your heart into it and use the pain and experiences constructively to be an even better artist. Nothing is worth that kind of pain but in some senses the saying is true that what don't kill you makes you stronger, at least in some kind of round about way. Props.
Thanks man nothin but truth in this post. What's an artist without passion and struggle:yeshrug:

And i think I may know you from YouTube if i aint mistaken breh

I never realized Scarface's verse was a true story until I read the Jay Z book Decoded, for that reason this is truly 1 of the best examples, his man's son died just before he recorded the verse and he put it as the verse...

i could rap about my hard times in this song, heaven know i would been wrong
i wouldn't been right, it wouldn't been love, it wouldn't been life, it wouldn't been us

"One day we were supposed to be recording Scarface's verse, we were all just sort of sprawled out, bullshytting in the front room at Bassline Studios, which was the home studio for Roc-A-Fella Record. We had a pool table and some couches and we were just shooting, joking around with my engineer, Guru, and getting ready to go in the booth. Then Scarface's phone rang, and as soon as he picked it up, the look in his face changed. He kept saying the same thing over and over again, "Nahh… nahhh, man…". Then he was quiet for a while. When hung up, he told us what happened. His homeboy had called to tell him that a friend of theirs had just lost one of his kids in a fire. We're all just sitting there like, fukk. Then Scarface was back on the phone to his own wife to tell her the news and to check on how his own kids were doing.

When he got off the phone I told him, "Yo, we'll get the verse another time." He shook his head. "Nah, Jig, nah, I'll do it now". He went off on his own for a while to compose his verse. When he came into the booth to record, he laid down the verse that's on the album in one take. His first lines were, Now as I walk into the studio to do this with Jig, I got a phone call from one of my nigs.

Scarface turned that moment of pain instantly into a great piece of writing, which he followed with a powerful vocal performance. It was incredible to watch."

No doubt, that was a great story from the book.
