The Alchemist shows off the similarities between the Kendrick Lamar “Meet the Grahams” beat and the Prodigy “Keep It Thoro” beat.

I really don't care too much for music "progressing" over what Pink Floyd, Curtis Mayfield or what Alchemist did around 2001 for hip hop. If rap stays with those beats going forward I'm more than happy.

Have you guys heard this Alchemist beat?

Nice track thanks
And yeah alch top 3

I love Alc but you can't rank him above Premier and Pete Rock

Nah Q tip has to be above Alc and truthfully speaking his every bit as influential as Dre to rap.

Like half of raps greatest producers directly come from Tips lineage

Dilla
Kanye
Havoc

Can’t put Alchemist above Premo either, if were going prime for prime Premo from 89-98 blows everyone out the water mostly.

Premo doesn’t have the variety to fukk with Alc. And the prime argument is irrelevant imo considering Alc has been active for 30 years vs Premo’s “prime’ 10

As far as strictly hip hop producers:

1. Dilla
2. Kanye
3. Neptunes/Pharell
4. Dre
5. Alchemist

And if I’m realllly being honest Dre is a bit of a legacy addition :whoa: He’s the only producer on that list that doesn’t really have variety in terms of sound. We’re all so programmed to say he’s one of the best

No doubt.

Who are your top 3 producers?

For me in no order

1. Premier
2. RZA
3. Alchemist

4. Kut Masta Kurt
5. Dre
6. Sermon
7. Necro
8. Pete Rock
9. Showbiz
10. 4th Disciple

Christ - they're ALL like Mozart's, Beethoven's to me. In terms of classic long term music that endures. I don't even check for classical too much.

I hope their music lasts just as long!
