Zombies seem to be very big in Haitian folk culture. Must be why I love zombies so much.

Your haitian? yeah man, they say that shyt is real. The story is that they use the toxins from a puffer fish to put someone in that state where they are able to be controlled.

It's interesting because in Japan people eat puffer fish as a delicacy and when it's prepared the toxins have to be removed. However they are some who pay the chef to keep a small amount in there so they can get high as hell but if too much is left in there it could kill a person which happens sometimes. Another interesting thing that I was told was that chefs in Japan have to study a long time to learn how to properly prepare the puffer fish. It's interesting.

Part Haitian. And the puffer fish interests me. Ironically the doc I linked talks about Japanese people eating puffer fish.

Yeah it's interesting how a fish that people eat can kill them, be used turn someone into a zombie or get them high lol. I would ever want to take the chance but to the Japanese that's some fly cool shyt to eat lol.

As for the documentary you linked, I'll check it out. I think I seen it before if I'm not mistaken but i had forgot a lot about it and what I learned about the puffer fish was from this African Folklore class I took in college.

True that, true. Like I know Cassava which my family eats as they are Caribbean has to be processed a certain way or else it can kill you because it is high in cyanide. Also Ackee can be poisonous or hurt your stomach badly if not prepared the right way.

However in the case with Ackee people know when to pick it and cook it, with cassava people know how to process it and get all the bad stuff out and on a side note if you ask me the native Americans should have gave Christopher Colombus some bad Cassava to eat but they were too nice lol. With that said, puffer fish is different, all it takes is a chef who is being paid to keep the poison in it to hand you the wrong plate or a unskilled chef who doesn't know how to cut it properly and that can kill you or get you so high you can't come down and are seeing stars, aliens, Isiah Thomas and fukking orange dolphins and shyt all over the place. So I won't take my chances lol.
