These secondary school students taught themselves to code and, with encouragement from their parents and school, they’ve achieved something extraordinary.

Anesi and Osine Ikhianosime, 13 and 15 years old respectively, are students of Greensprings school, Anthony Campus, Lagos, and they developed an Android based web browser called Crocodile Browser Lite sometime last year.

Osine’s interest in computers began at the tender age of 7, the same age which he and his brother –who was 9 at the time (born June 1, 1999), decided to start a company of their own. Inspired by Microsoft’s “Windows” platform, they initially named their new company ‘Doors’, but later changed the name to ‘BluDoors’ when they found out that the initial name had been taken.

The two brothers decided to learn to code at ages 12 and 14 respectively. “I learnt to code by myself. I started in 2013, I used sites sites like Code Academy, Code Avengers and books like ‘Android for Game Development’ and ‘Games for Dummies’,” said Anesi.

According to both brothers, they started developing an Android based web browser, which they named Crocodile Browser Lite, about a year ago, out of boredom. Their strong interest in technology, coupled with their desire to learn, informed the decision to create a functional, fast browser for low end feature phones because “We were fed up with Google Chrome”, according to them.

The brothers launched their browser on the Mobango app before taking it onto the Google Play Store so they could reach a wider audience. Their browser currently has around 500 downloads, but no ads yet.

Their mother, Mrs. Ngozi Ikhianosime, a Math teacher, said, “Oseni could already use a PC before could read, at age 3.” She also said that the school the boys attended also played a key role in encouraging their love for coding. They had access to computers in school and they both had personal laptops at home.

Can't seem to find much coverage on the story but this isn't going to end well...

As President Muhammadu Buhari travels to the United States (US) today to engage President Barack Obama in talks on economic, security, financial and anti-graft issues, it has emerged that he has ordered the preparation of the case-file that would lead to the prosecution of the indicted persons in the $182 million Halliburton bribery scandal.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that the President’s directive followed the requirement by the US government of evidence to show that Buhari was ready to prosecute the suspects in Nigeria for their roles in the bribery scandal before it could partner other European countries in releasing the $141million dollars allegedly looted from Nigeria and lodged in various overseas banks.

According to top security sources, Buhari, based on the outcome of investigations by the panel set up to look into the scandal, is scheduled to tell Americans officials during this week’s visit that all those indicted, including former Heads of State, a former Vice President, two former Group Managing Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, will face prosecution to defend themselves.

To further convince the US officials that the kangaroo trial that took place during the Jonathan administration, which saw a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to the President being arraigned and then let off the hook following alleged connivance of certain government institutions, will not re-occur, the President will tell them that private legal practitioners, who cannot compromise because of past government patronage, will be commissioned to handle the case.

It will be recalled that the recent directive by Buhari to reopen the Halliburton bribery case led to the discovery that the $26.5 million plea bargain money released by the oil servicing firm as part of efforts to shield the company from prosecution was not in any government account.

Once again, you have no clue what you are talking about or how the global economy works.

Once you enter the real world and understand how lending and debt works then maybe you'll graduate from Hotep to actual human being.
I understand just fine, the reason Africans are in the IMF loan or nadda situation they're is because they're content sitting in shyt, all they really care about is having a place to stay and food, sad but true, that's why corruption in Africa is unparallelled, they dont care about who owns what or whether or not their country becomes a 1st world nation, all they give a fukk about is upgrading their village with stolen oil money they got underpaid for, it sounds like satire but it's a reality people gotta own up to in order to move forward.

:mjlol:

The reason they have IMF loans, dumbass, is because you have to take on debt to build anything. Now the conditions on the money they get loaned or if that money gets to where it should be going is another topic, but thee countries have to take on debt.

Blame capitalism.
