I'm not talking about the actual movies. It's about these actors that keep bringing it up. No one wants to hear/see all that. This has been a big issue for a few years now. We watch movies and award shows for entertainment; not opinions and such. Of course it's a high platform to express oneself, but keep that shyt for interviews and social media. :comeon:

This is an interesting take considering majority of the films people hold in high regard throughout history including the ones usually nominated at these shows have something to say socially and politically. Like complaining about comic books being too political, but they've been political since their inception.

Awards shows are the best place to say something because you have a room full of your peers and employers, the stand and all eyes on you for a minute or so.

Of course some movies will have political viewpoints and such. Just because some people have them high up doesn’t mean everyone likes them. It’s all about each person’s taste. Pretty sure a lot of Best Picture winners are movies I don’t give a damn about.

I remember liking Crash back in the day. Tried watching it a few years back and had to stop watching. :camby:

the guy who i think might be really peeved is lee chang dong. i think hes been around longer than bong and park and his films never crossed over. then he made Burning, which deals with similar themes to Parasite, a year before Parasite :mjlol:
On the super low, Shoplifters did the whole "poverty stricken" family a whole year before Parasite too :manny:

shoplifters actually won the palme d’or in competition against Burning. and it got some oscar love too with a foreign film nom - i forget what it lost to. hirokazu’s movies are really slow and meditative so i dont think they were ever gonna have the crossover success of a parasite. hes had a great career though :wow: and i love that style. hes like an Ozu for dysfunctional modern families

You don’t. Some people mind. Some don’t. Clearly it wasn’t an issue last year. Awards shows are down across the board but they’re still the highest rated awards show. And they’re not being “pc” by saying let’s not ignore climate change or the cats in elected office aren’t doing their jobs. If you think that’s politically correct, idk what to tell you

PC, opinions, I don’t wanna hear it. Actions speak louder than words. :camby:

Yup. Athletes say it all the time. If they don’t use their platform to speak to things they care about then when will they ever speak? You have a finite amount of time in this world where people genuinely give a shyt about your opinions and thoughts. Use that platform

yeah so forgotten NYT is running features about south korean class relations
For Seoul’s Poor, Class Strife in ‘Parasite’ Is Daily Reality
and its still setting records around the world
Parasite overtakes The Passion of the Christ as biggest ever foreign language film in the UK
and HBO is making an English language one specially for ignorant americans like you
Tilda Swinton to star in HBO's 'Parasite' TV adaptation
not to mention that this movie is still showing in theaters in my city half a year after the US premier :mjlol:
but please stay mad about your sad clown movie losing :mjlol:
