You know there was some fruity columnist over at Huffington Post, talking about DBC shouldn't win anything cause they was no gay shyt in it. :comeon:Talking about how the lead character was super straight guy who got AIDS. Them fakkits try to make fukken everything about them. All kind of people got HIV/AIDS at that time, kids, that hemophiliac tennis player, anybody who had multiple blood transfusions, drug addicts who shared needles etc.

Fags did get hit the hardest by the epidemic, and film showed that. 90% of his customers were fakkits. What, did he want a homo sex scene or something?

That is what it is though. It's a visual marvel, and it's worth seeing for that alone. But the story's not particularly compelling. CLooney basically got paid to play himself in the movie.
I don't think Cuaron was going for some incredible storyline, I think he was going for more of an "experience", but he was also saying some metaphorical things about life with it as well. Similar to Avatar in my opinion, in that James Cameron created an experience over having some crazy unique original storyline. We've seen Cuaron can do compelling stories. Children of Men obviously being the finest example, so I believe it's safe to assume that just wasn't Cuaron's vision for this movie. If there continues to be more movies in the vein of Avatar and Gravity, I think it's sort of a new genre/type of movie that is emerging and is almost an evolution of cinema. These movies seek to transport it's viewers into a world like no other movies can match.

That is exactly what he wanted. He wanted the lead to be gay, not some macho homophobic straight guy.

I didn't say any of those things aren't true, but SBG was getting offended like the dude was oversimplifying the movie when that's exactly what it was. A survival movie with the best imagery and attention to detail of the year.
He said "2 hours of Sandra Bullock whining in space" dude did not describe ANYTHING about the movie and thats what I took offense with. I have no problems with people criticizing it's simplistic story, I still believe that was intentional. That aspect may lessen it as a movie to you, or it may not.
