This is what drug violence and poverty does.
Alot of these cities murder rates are crazy plus their 3rd world in some of these cities.

If you want to see what drugs and poverty can really do then look up the numbers for cities in the USa during the crack era. No reason a "first world country" should have murder rates that high

US cities even during the crack era were no where near close to the level of violence taking place in a lot of South America, and Brazil is a 2nd world country. I lived through the crack era in the South Bronx, it had some characteristics of a 3rd world country but even then it wasn't coming close to that kind of violence.

During that same time period, Medellin, Colombia was averaging 6000 murders a year and the drug gangs were car bombing city officials, absolutely no one was safe. That is just a different level, and it's happening in Mexico as well.
