Makes me optimistic about a deal getting done.

10 years is crazy, but I'm sure they'll find a number of years everybody is comfortable with. I'm 98% sure that an Alonso extension will be announced during Stearns introductory press conference.

Pete definitely deserves a new contact, and he'll end up owning most of the team records by the time the deal is done

The fanbase seems to be off the Baty train but that homer looked real nice and I like having Mauricio at 2nd. I still believe there's a good player there. Some tweaks and we cooking.

Baty's noodle arm at 3rd worries me tho. Mauricio has a cannon. And he's proving he can handle big league pitching so far. I wish we could find a spot for Baty. Could Baty play 2nd? He seems kinda tall for it.. but who knows.

He doesn't have a noodle arm though. His problem is lack of confidence and overthinking sometimes. The position comes way more naturally to Mauricio who has been playing pro ball since a teenager and is used to shortstop, but he's looked good at 2nd too. Baty will be fine at 3rd. Can't give up on him so soon. There's a reason he's still more regarded than Mauricio. This Mauricio sample size small af too.

I hope they focus on strictly the starting pitching and the bullpen this offseason. Ideally, Yamamoto and 1 or 2 more pitchers on prove yourself 1-2 year type of deals. I have no clue about the bullpen right now as far as FAs but I'm also highly interested in what the pitching lab does for us on that front.

There are some moves I'd want them to make like trading for a good starting pitcher but I'm hoping that ends up a next year's deadline type of move with some prospects boosting their value (Parada specifically lol). I feel like Stearns would want to have the first half of next season to evaluate the MLB roster(including Mauricio, Vientos, Alvarez, Baty in this) and the prospects in AA/AAA knocking on the door.

The baby Mets are the only reason to turn on non Senga starts. I wonder who they are moving for pitching because I can't see everybody staying once Acuña and Gilbert get closer.

Who do they have to get rid of? They don't have a dedicated LF and Marte will be off the books by the time they come up. .

How do heads feel about Pham throwing all the position players under the bus?
I think he was being honest but it seems that despite not working as hard as others they are getting results. Pete is the most prolific HR hitter since becoming a Major leaguer, McNeil is the reigning batting champ, Lindor plays every day and is avg. 30 HRs and 100 RBIs the last two seasons. And Nimmo is turning himself into a better hitter and CFer every year.
The Mets not being good this year was all about no Diaz, Scherzer sucking, Peterson sucking, Magill, sucking, Drew Smith sacking, Ottavino being mid and all the other relievers not named Raley or Robertson sucking and Verlander and Quintana missing time as well. The position players weren't the problem.

The Mets play 3 vs Miami and 3 vs Philly to end the season. The Angels play 3 with Texas and 3 vs Oakland.

The Angels are one game worse and maybe they still will finish with a worse record but I really hope we lose more games than they do at this point lol.
