The Lindor contract is a travesty, but let’s not act like he’s not damn near at (or AT) the top of SS offensive numbers on the year. His average is ass, but he’s been productive. $341M productive? Probably not. But this ain’t Ruben Tejada at the plate neither. As for Max and Verlander.. I’m sure if they decide to sell.. they’ll move Max at the deadline. And if you don’t think Cohen will eat most (or all) of Max’s remaining salary, in order to get a better return.. then you’re crazy.

Cohen mentioned the farm a couple of times yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me if he ate 60-80% of Max's contract to get a haul of prospects in return. He wants that farm popping and wants pitchers coming out of there.
Lindor's offensive production as a Met has been subpar for:
1. What expectations were since he was traded, since he was going into his prime years 27-31
2. What Cohen is paying him
Yeah his defense is great, but you wanted great on both sides of the ball.
Comparing him to Ruben Tejada says more about how bad Lindor's 760 Mets OPS has been. Lindor is basically Tulo with the Blue Jays... that's not who you thought you were getting, right?

Maybe Lindor can surprise me with a .330 batting average next season, and an MVP caliber performance from April - September.

Yeah, and i wouldn't be mad at it. He said as much when he took over, he acknowledged that he has a lot of bread but that it wasn't going to be all about spending money. He was trying to follow the Dodgers blueprint of investing heavy in the roster to get competitive, but then also investing in scouting and development so that you always have a nice pipeline of talent.
