He said he called McNeil the other night and spoke to him. Didn't know he speaking with the players like that. Said he watches all the games. Hinted that they losing money. Said he wants the "right" president of baseball operations and is willing to wait and not make a mistake.

Yeah, I figure that Scherzer and Verlander could get some nice prospect returns at the trade deadline. The advantage we have is that Stevie is in a position to do like he did with Escobar, eat some of the money on the contracts so that teams will be more inclined to part with valuable young assets.
I don't think Verlander would get moved but I can see Scherzer being moved. Paying off the rest of the salary for the rest of the year will help get something good for Pham/Canha as well. Vogelbach should get moved for whatever as well.

I would move Max, Robertson, Pham and Marte. I would try to keep JV, but if some team wants to pay handsomely he can go too.
I would still like to make a move for a burnes or a Bieber, because they can still help us in the future.

I think that's more of an offseason move with whoever they sign as president of baseball operations. Get whatever prospects for whoever you trade away, make an assessment of everything you have including this year's draft picks and make those moves after the hire.
