The difference is that top 5 outfielder has one year at 27 mil left on his contract, rejected a 300 mil extension and will be a free agent next winter and the Red Sox wanted to get under the cbt and they just shed 55-60 mil in payroll and got 5 years of a cost controlled player in the process.
What the fukk does any of that have to do with whether or not Verdugo is “that good”? He isn’t.

explain how a rookie who hit 294/343 with a 817 ops and 3.1 war , and that’s missing the last 2 months of the season with an injury is not that good man stop quoting me

You’re a moron. He played like absolute shyt his last month before going down as I knew he would once pitchers figure him out. It’s pretty common for rookies to have hot starts, but Verdugo’s isnt even close to being the most impressive. He shouldn’t even be used in the same sentence as an already established top 10 player in the league.

Kenny you're a bit harsh on Verdugo

He's a good young player who hits the ball hard.
Maybe he will never be Mookie Betts but in Fenway with the right development he could be an .850 OPS player.
