It’s black because he obviously didn’t do it for the dog. He did it for his daughter. That’s the point. I mean the doctor even said to him “you must love that dog” and he responded with “I love the girl who loves the dog”
Part of being a parent is doing stuff you don’t really want to because you love your kids and don’t want them to suffer or deal with any bad shyt. Jack is the perfect example of that. Everything about him is self sacrifice for his family and laying it all on the line on them.
Only on the coli could someone see that scene and say “he did it for a dog”
