gene hackman was such a great actor. and he bowed out gracefully from the industry. I've NEVER seen him have a bad performance in any movie.
Absolutely. He was excellent in The Quick and The Dead. One of my favorite roles from him. Never seen a bad performance from him. One of my favorites. As far as Enemy of the State, a lot of great performances.

It literally does mean that. You can’t change what words men just to continue arguing.
Nope, that's not what it means but you can believe whatever you want.

Also, you were to one that replied to my post which you didn't have to do.

They play US Marshals on TV all the time now. I've rewatched it 3 maybe 4 times last year.

As I did almost all these movies, I took US Marshals very seriously as a 12 year old. Might have even considered it a classic movie to me at the time. The thing is they were just so much fun. Where can kids get this kind of experience today? And these were group activities as kids. Watch a movie, wander the mall, talk about the movie. In earlier years, break out the soft pellet BB guns and shoot at each other.

Why in the fukk was Downey Jr. conspiring to kill the target? Was this more late 90's government paranoia?

@Bleed The Freak, this was for sure before Downey got sober. I think as of 2001 he was being arrested with a .357 and cocaine LOL

Money Train is a nostalgic 90s classic for me...i must've watched that shyt 100 times as a teen back in the day.

Jlo in that film too :banderas:

oh, she's stunning. And what a fukking force as an actress. She's incredible. She's going bar for bar with 1995 Wesley, and she was known for what? The Fly Girls? I was too young to appreciate her when I first saw Money Train around 1996, but by the time Out Of Sight came out....That was one of the women I first realized was attractive. Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Lil' Kim, Gloria Velez.

and guess who all my girlfriends for the rest of my life kinda look like lol

Kind of derailing this, we maybe can use a Wesley Snipes 90's thread. but the romance between Snipes and Lopez, is like an afterthought as far as the plot, but it's still so much hotter than what we see in movies today, which probably mirrors current culture.

The only thing that kept Wesley from reaching that stratosphere that Will Smith had (Mr Summer blockbuster) was he never got like an ID4 or MIB.

Blade was and still is an all-time classic but it's still a niche comic book film that didn't cross over to the masses 💯.

But there is no question of who's the better actor

That’s literally what it means. That’s what anyone else reading it would use deductive reasoning to find.

You ignore that part because you like arguing even when you agree with someone. It’s fukkin weird.

loved this movie. I don't remember it getting much attention when it first dropped :noah:

definitely holds up in 2025.

I rarely hear Enemy of the State talked about as one of Will Smiths best movies.

But yes that was a hell of a cast.

Enemy of the State is rarely talked about AT ALL. I don't know why.

I also like to watch movie reactions on YouTube, and it's hard to find anyone that reacts to it.
So I think I know why. MiB was 97. Enemy of the State 98. But wait for it, wild wild west was 99. That's arguably Will's worst media product ever (not just film depending on who you ask). That movie changed the narrative on who he was.

Saw that in theaters too. That was one of those times as a kid, where I was like what the fukk is this? Because it was not The Negotiator, or The Siege, or The Rock, and my homie and I were expecting something like that. It was lifeless. It wasn't funny. The action had no edge to it.

I guess it's pretty close to being MIB, but two years in, we wouldn't have thought MIB was that funny anymore. It also tried to do the same thing, with a Will song, featuring Sisqo. But Will had lost a step even before Wild Wild West, because that song didn't do much. Who was the audience for that? Not 7th graders like I was.

Industry execs tried to pull some bullshyt lol -put Barry Sonnenfield back with Will and some bullshyt song with Sisqo. He actually kills that hook.

I thought he was great in Crimson Tide along with the GOAT Denzel
I read/ listened to a dive into Gene’s career. He had a hell of a run. He elevates any movie he is in. One of the reasons why so many stars were in this movie was because Gene was in it.

He goes toe to toe with the greats and shyts on them. He wasn’t conventionally handsome so Hollywood didn’t use him as a superstar. He just acted his ass off.

I have to watch Crimson Tide. RIP to one of the GOATs

Yes sir! Even his lesser works like Rising Sun were great 90's cheese and were fun. He had a hell of a run.

You can make a strong argument he was the second best black actor from the '90s

I have it as

Denzel
Wesley
Will
Fishburne
Out of the three, only Will doesn’t command a room. The other three just have the charisma. Is it their “look”. I can’t put my finger on it but they have it.

Will may have it as well, but I’m not sure. Maybe Bad Boys 1 will had a draw. I just it something about a funny man that doesn’t seem to have “it” like some stars.
