THE GOAT LOW-BUDGET/ "BAD MOVIE"

ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES EVER.

I didn't even know about this until the following school year, but I'm gonna shout it out anyay.

with that said, I didn't know they had coolio all up in the promo like that. he was in the movie for a whopping 1 minute at best. prolly 30 seconds.
it makes sense tho........@justcking you see how that works?

It really was though. That 18 month period from Summer '96 to Winter '97 is pretty much unmatched to this day.

yea

I mean, not musically, but based on everything as a whole. the culture, the happenings, music, etc - then yea its prolly the goat school year.

th

I see what you're trying to get at with this. There's rwo differenves though:

1) Coolio wasn't just in the promo. He's on the cover

2) There aren't any marquee names on the cover that were more known than Coolio. Brian Hooks wasn't that huge yet and the big dude (whose name escapes me) was in his first role as a main if I'm not mistaken. He had some pivotal roles in Lean on Me and Juice, but this was his first role as a main.

@Wacky D how'd ya react when Timbaland started to emerge on the scene with his beats , seeing this era is really when he started gaining notoriety , his joints were certified game changers

I never viewed him as that much of a game-changer. most of the stuff he was doing, was already done by Devante & others, and I generally liked that stuff better.

but yea, he brought some new stuff to the table with it too, and had his own heavy influence as well. but I'm not a fan of most of the producers that he influenced. they basically took the stuff that I didn't like about timbo beats & built off of it.

but yea, he was churning out a lot of great beats. especially with beats like "one in a million". that '97-98 run was classic production. that has to be an all-time great run of r&b beats. definitely a top 3 or at least top 5 run for modern-day r&b production.

Dope that those videos are actually from my Youtube channel and I was in 7th grade as well the 1996-97 school year:russ:

that's dope. I'm tryna start my own channel too, cuz I got a lot of stuff that's not on youtube. I had the connector chord EARLY before youtube, but I never used it. now I don't know where its at.:snoop:

Am I the only one here who was not impressed with the De La Soul "Stakes is High" Album?

I never heard the whole album.

but the joints I heard, gave off a better impression on me than any of the de la soul albums that I did listen to from front-to-back.

so I always assumed that this was low-key their best album.

how about 2pac vs blackstreet - if there was a beef. somebody made a thread about it.

the awkwardness of it all from a spectator's standpoint.

:pachaha:
