most of it is just the industry today, r&b aint really popping, female artists are struggling for relevancy, even in pop. she would've at least had ashanti/amerie level career if r&b was still popular/healthy like it was through the early 00's.

that's one reason SZA not having her live shyt together is disappointing, not too many r&b artists are breaking through right now, so for her to not be prepared is to drop the ball

No, I feel like a crop of artists that we been talking about the past 2-3 years are starting to get noticed and at least their critical due. Now whether they really breakthrough is yet to be seen, but I think with sza's success and the success of "boo'ed up", music execs have taken notice and might give r&b more of a push. I'm giving it until this time next year before I call it.
