One of my favorite Spurs and a great story of resiliency. It would have been nice to see him and the Spurs work something out but he had to chase that bag. Orlando made him an offer he couldnt refuse and say what you will about the Spurs organization they advise players to do whats best for themselves and their families when it comes to contracts.

True I've read a couple stories where the Spurs told the players to go secure a better contract than what they could offer.

Dana Stubblefield getting a bag and joining the former Slurs after winning DPOY. Bryant Young carried him and hid his failings.

U can’t assume that they win with could have should have would haves

Throughout NBA history we really haven’t seen teams with those defensive league ranks go all the way

Joe didn’t have a great scoring motor or apply great rim pressure which is necessary to put up great numbers.

Back in 05-07 it was just them the Spurs and Mavs as the top teams. Back in 07 they were coming off a game 4 win against the Spurs where they played great defense. Straight up beat the Spurs at their own game. Then Horry Hip-checks Nash and that was a wrap. If not for those suspensions they beat the Spurs in game 5, they lost that game in the final minute without Amare and Diaw. If they have those guys with the momemtum they built from game 4 thats a comfortable win. And with that win they most likely close the Spurs out in game 7.

You mighta had a point about the 05,06 Suns but in 07 they ranked 14th in Defense. They played defense that year...all their guys came out and said 07 was their best team.

And Joe wouldnt have needed much of a scoring motor to get those buckets...he played in SS0L Offense. Those dudes averaged 15 more shots than everybody else. He'd be scoring big numbers with ease. Dude was only 24 when he left.

He put up great numbers. He was a 7 time all star and made 200 plus million and played damn near 18 seasons. nikkas acting like he was Smush Parker or some flash in the pan. Borderline HOF and filthy rich. Joe won

Nerlens Noel turning down the bag and becoming a glorified journeyman

Paul "the truth" Williams being Knocked out by Sergio then getting paralyzed in a bike accident.

The ref not stopping the Gerald Mccellan Nigel Benn fight when G-Man almost TKO'd him in the 1st, then not recognizing that G-Man was blinking non stop in the 9th and 10th. I dont even think he was able to throw a punch in the 10th. He's been brain damaged ever since. Could have been a all time great and he was the only man that Roy Jones was scared of back then

TMAC leaving Orlando to Houston. That was a dumb move because the West was stack.
He made the right decision. Can’t control injuries. Houston fukked up being greedy with the trade. Should’ve kept Mobley and gave away the draft picks instead..

Tmac and Yao needed that third scorer badly.

the biggest mistake was leaving JVG as the coach. Dude was left behind in the previous era. He still was trying to play 90’s ball

Melo's biggest mistake was taking the full five year extension from Denver without any sort of player option opt out in the contract. His explanation for it years later still makes no sense whatsoever.
He would’ve had a better shot with NY if he just signed in the offseason instead of forcing a trade. nikka gutted the hell out of that roster for perennial first round exits
