Tech's broken promises: Streaming is now just as expensive and confusing as cable. Ubers cost as much as taxis. And the cloud is no longer cheap.

Nobody's looking out for the average consumer. Well I shouldn't say nobody, but 95% of companies just want to get you hooked in, and then do the same thing to you the big mega $ companies were doing before.

YouTube TV started like $35 a month, now I'm paying $80 a month. It's still slightly better than cable but it's almost tripled in price

:dahell: :dahell: :dahell: MOTHAfukkA!!!!!

You just made me check YoutubeTV because last I saw, I was paying $64 a month. That stopped March 2023. Its been $72 since. I still prefer it to cable but what the fukk. They absolutely roped my ass in at $50 some years ago. Google be sneak dissing my wallet.

It's not expensive because of "tech". It's expensive cause of capitalism. The prices for streaming, uber, and cloud are what they are because the companies who own those services charge what they charge.

Especially streaming where the overwhelming majority of the cost is what they pay to license movies/shows and what they pay to produce movie/slash. That has nothing to do with "tech".

Is cable cheaper than subscribing to all the streaming services combined? Sure, but who the fuq is doing that? Most choose 2-3 and its way cheaper than Cable.
smart ones are just using a site like onetwothree movies and pirating everything. these prices are so outrageous its literally pissing me off.

none of the services turn a profit cus the business model is flawed. their stocks are reliant on new subscribers. netflix pulled that bullshyt cus their subscribers were plateauing. soon netflix will be $25-$30 a month. hbo max is already at $20 for 4k. its horrible

I mean it’s because of the tech also.

Being delivered a movie through the internet/kiosk/or mail vs a brick and mortar Blockbuster with limited options wasn’t a cheaper licensing problem. The tech cut out the middleman and gave more access.

Remember having giant satellites you paid for to access sports? Well let’s get it you sports through your internet and YouTube account.

Like anything else, companies got people hooked with the low cost options.

All these companies knew ads supported a bulk of their sales. That’s why they tried so many ways to get them into shows as product placement

I just went to direct Tv website,,, the ultimate plan is like $150++ a months,, its even more after the two years,, comes with hbo, showtime, starz And max,,,with more channel u really dont watch,,,

Streaming still seems a lot more cheaper and less stressful and manageable

Far as ad tv goes, when you just want to watch regular TV or just have the TV on in the background Pluto TV killing that shyt

at the end of the day with capitalism, shareholders will always want to see an increase in share price. so even if the tech is cost-efficient prices will still have to go up anyways at a certain point. that's just capitalism

increase share price by any means

rising internet prices where? You can get a gig for $70/mo now. 400 Mbps for $35. Data has never been cheaper
If you’re constantly streaming and downloading things, you can easily burn through that easily. That’s not even factoring in how some companies are doing data caps and charging for anything above it.

I’ll agree with OP and my examples are barbers. They force you to go on the app since they don’t do walk-ins. Cool. App says cut is $45! Cool. I want to make an appointment for Tuesday at 2:30 yet somehow the app is saying that this time slot is highly coveted and the new price is now $60. How tf is a typical dead ass part of the day highly coveted and why is the price getting jacked up 33%. It’s all BS and we’ve become willing participants to it.

You can't tell these people nothing when it comes to airbnbs :mjlol:

It's become a nikka flex
Never got into Airbnb

I don’t want to worry about one single thing when I hit my destination. I want my room cleaned, towels changed, access if I somehow misplace my key/card, no concern about noise levels, go downstairs if I want a good meal, etc.

I do not understand the hype with Airbnb. Like, it’s one thing if you’re actually renting a villa or compound and there is staff, but if I am renting someone’s home and I have to look after everything myself? How is that a vacation? TF??

Always have a Great Powered Antenna that Does HD signals . AM /FM too all down to my receiver.

I am Streaming off private Torrent trackers, or Usenet , Plexshares, or Android TV IPTV service.
You really only need 2 of these services one for sports and live events and the other 3 are basically the same just different infrastructure. Cost less than 12 a month for me. And I get all the content on all the streaming platforms sometimes even before they have it. :blessed:
Surprised alot of people in here don't fukk with IPTV....either they don't know how to set it up or just don't know period....I pay $10 a month for access to everything.....all the sports, PPV, International cable etc ...
