She took the trip

I was in Australia last year and it was a vibe lowkey.

Went to Melbourne and Sydney on my way to Bali.

Planning to move out there, because they have a decent tech scene and comparable wages.

Do it breh, you have no wife or kids if I'm not mistaken there is a big world out there.

Me moving to Uganda was the best thing I ever did although I gotta come back

The work life balance of my current role is great. I could be making 20 - 30k more in another role and actually turned down a role that was on par with that. I feel slightly underpaid in my role but it's really sales engineering org overall.

With that said I'm taking a risk in staying in the AI space and soaking it all up. I also like who I work with which is super valuable. Hopefully if this pays off I won't even miss the money I left on the table.

My plan is to stay in this role for another year and if I don't get a promotion I'll change companies. Actually had this semi transparent conversation with my boss after my merit increase :yeshrug:

I know a lot of people talk about A.I, but it’s actually these new college grads that are going to be insane.

Applied as “White” so less chance of discrimination:

If people like this are not making it into these schools then those who do graduate from them are really on some other shyt. I posted about it before, but these kids are basically going through academic camps and competitions like an NBA player did when they were in High School.

All for most of these people to go on and write CRUD web apps for a company, which is funny.

I mentioned in the other thread about air traffic control: engineers who graduate from these schools get their talent wasted in the real world. Got these 4.0 M.I.T kids graduating all to be out here writing ReactJS for entry-level roles. Seems like a waste (not meant to be a diss to fellow FE). I always think “regular” folks should be taking these jobs, but of course nobody in higher positions wants Caltech and M.I.T grads going for their spots.

Hiring for tech jobs is broken

Cheating on technical interviews is soaring. Managers don't know what to do

That's why he asked job applicants not to use generative AI in the first technical coding part of their interviews — with the promise that they'd be able to show off their combined engineering and AI skills in a later section. "They still cheated," he tells me.

man, interviewing with a large tech company I been wanting to work for for years, it went really well and the hiring manager wants to move me forward, but he got a promotion and the role has been up leveled to a people manager role, I don’t think they’ll continue to consider me, these big companies have much higher thresholds for group/director level roles :(
I got the interview :leon:

Now I gotta put the mouthpiece to work and hope I can impress her as well

I’m of the opinion that the heavy-handed Indian middle manager is as much of a threat to our jobs as AI. I know an MD at my company is working directly with a VP to transfer US dev jobs to India. 🇮🇳 They’ve already got two off my team this year under the guise of “permanent position elimination” only to have two consultants in New Delhi fill those roles the last few weeks. A lot of tension at my company over this issue right now. I know a few HR complaints have been submitted and apparently one has some proof of collusion behind it. I know this bytch in the tweet is goofy but there is some truth to what she’s saying.

Shopify CEO: No new hires, unless you prove AI can’t do the job

In a memo to employees, CEO Tobi Lutke told workers to weigh their needs for new hires against AI’s capabilities before asking for more resources.

Lutke said he wants teams to prove what they need, writing that “teams must demonstrate why they cannot get what they want done using AI. What would this area look like if autonomous AI agents were already part of the team?”

AI will also be used in the company’s employee performance and peer review processes, according to Lutke’s memo.

They fukking rescoped the role again/its changing again and I’m curved…at least for now :to:

Another company paused the role I was interviewing with until they hire a VP :snoop:

Another company it’s been 2 weeks with no feedback, the recruiter did let me know the person I interviewed with was OOO then there was an offsite, but like, you can’t hit the interviewer and ask them to submit feedback? That interview went so well, I’d be surprised if that was a “no”, but seems like all these companies on some BS :martin:

Might have to go tap back into the company I dropped out of, seems like a shyt storm there, but a check is a check.

Lastly, waiting to hear back from two other companies.

I will say, given the market, I have a decent hit rate with getting interviews, but shyt luck in so many of them just being dead ends
