That's what's up! Did you do a prestigious MBA (Top 15 or M7?) or was it just a regular state university type program?
If I can't reasonably exit the field I'm in within my goal period (2 years), I'm going to try the FEMBA program at UCLA
to flip into PM/TPM opportunities.

Top 20 school. Whatever you do in those 2 years try to take on more project type roles so you can pad your resume.

Amazon could cut 14,000 managers soon and save $3 billion a year, according to Morgan Stanley

I've always hated my Managers at tech companies. But who is gonna deal with all the bullshyt tasks once you ax that many Managers?

the managers that “survive” will just have significantly more direct reports which means that their day to day becomes busier because now they have more daily/weekly touch points.

A lot of managers are pointless. Hell some are just given useless titles as an excuse to keep them around. At my old company the directors and later VPs I reported directly to all had only 2-5 people under them. We talked once every 2 weeks for 30 minutes which boiled down to them asking "anything you need help with?". "Anything I should be worried about?". After that just would shoot the shyt for 20 minutes. At my current company the same thing. They could easily combine teams and cut management in half, especially for those that have no other duties.

This, Facebook did what’s called “flattening out” and it worked well for them. This, is just that, removing bullsht layers and giving middle managers more to do since they are already without a full days worth of work for being in the spots they are in. Sucks for them, is what it is.

Tech companies are so short-sighted.
