Miami Dolphins Stock Watch"With Lamar Miller the probable starter, the No. 2 tailback position was close between Thomas, rookie Mike Gillislee and Jonas Gray. But Thomas did a good job to separate himself with a strong performance against Houston. Thomas rushed for 25 yards on four carries and caught a 27-yard shovel pass. Health permitting, Thomas is now the clear favorite to be the first tailback off the bench to spell Miller. Thomas has been inconsistent and had issues with fumbling and injuries the past two seasons. But coaches have been raving about Thomas in Year 3, and he’s showing signs greater consistency."
Honestly, I havent seen anything from Miller in the preseason that makes him the CLEAR favorite to start, tho. I hope they know what they are doing because as much as i didnt like Reggie Bush I have to admit the man was playing well for us. I need to see what they saw in Miller that made them feel Bush was expandable

So now we have a hole at LT, RB (are we really expecting injury prone Thomas to take the job and expect a great season?) TE....right before jake long leaving this looked like a a great offseason..but now this seems to be in term of wins and losses the same as last year...I'm hoping for the best...and fukk Fidel Goodell for fining the bears linebacker..

We'll be fine at LT, I think Jonathan Martin will come into his own and be serviceable at the very least. Kid has got athletic abilities, just needs to refine his technique.

John Jerry coming back at right guard will stabilize the oline. If these guys can stay healthy I think the line can give us decent coverage and could actually be good in the running game. Unfortunately it might take some time for these guys to gel together because they haven't had the chance to practice together a lot as a unit this preseason.

The whole Daniel Thomas & Lamar Miller "competition" is for the headlines and for Jeff Ireland to save face. It's obvious that Miller's progression has been halted by the musical chair we've had at oline. Do people really expect him to shine in preseason with 9 carries running behind different guys almost every snap ? Daniel Thomas doing work vs. 2nd teams.... Miller is 10x more talented than Thomas and it is only a matter of time before Miller is considered the starting running back. D. Thomas is useful in pass protection so there might be a bit of a committee at first but I trust that Miller will grasp the opportunity once it shows and run away with it. Kid is very explosive, he was always making plays at UM so I'm sure his play on the field will dictate his snaps count but it won't take long for the Dolphins to trust him on every down.

I was happy to read Charles Clay connected a couple of times with Tannehill today at practice. I feel Clay will step into Keller role and do a good job with it. He's got skills in space, can catch the ball and made couple of nice plays in his rookie year.

Very surprised by the release of Richard Marshall. I know Patterson will be our Nickel corner, he's done it in the past and is actually pretty good at it.

I guess Nolan Carroll/Will Davis will battle for the spot opposite Brent Grimes and most likely share spots with Patterson depending on their performances.

That Brent Grimes acquisition might be the best Jeff Ireland move ever, he looks fabulous and will totally change our dynamics in the secondary. Dolphins won't be scared to put him 1 vs. 1 against top WRs and that clears a whole area of the field our safeties have to worry less about. This defense can be very good against offenses using intermediate routes as our safeties and linebacker both possess great closing speed.

Kevin Coyle said the 1st team defense was dominating against the Texans 1st and I agree, Ellerbe and Wheeler at the line is gonna confuse a lot of offenses and once Dion Jordan is thrown in the mix, you have a plethora of guys that can drop back in coverage or rush the passers. I swear the blitzes are gonna be :ohlawd:

I have VERY HIGH expectations for this defense.

And why the fukk is Nolan carrol still on this team besides being the son of a state rep??? He's terrible and statistically one of the worst corners in the game.

I've watched all three preseason games, and aside from the first game Martin has played pretty good

Marshall got cut :blessed:

i know Carroll is pretty wack, but i couldnt take Marshall's slow ass out there anymore. Davis should start, hopefully Jamar Taylor comes along as the season progresses

i have a feeling the Bills might creep up, obviously depends on Manual

speaking of that secondary, how much for Byrd? we got plenty of cap space and the team has done a fine job of pissing him off

Has EJ Manuel thrown a pass longer than 15 yards this offseason ?
:skip:

the Bills are just annual fukk ups breh, that's what it is

who plays linebacker for the bills ? The Dolphins have a Superbowl winner in the middle.

Jairus Byrd, Stephon Gilmore is cool. :ld:

but we have Reshad Jones, Chris Clemons & Brett Grimes :smugfavre:

until Mario Williams goes back to his old self, he ain't seeing Cam Wake...:manny:

:heh: those 5 yards completions in preseason got Buffalo fans gassed

Your safeties are not better. Byrd & Jones are the same player pretty much. Chris Clemons is better than whoever now plays at FS for the Bills.
