i think an argument can be made that, at some point, we (middle to upper middle class blacks) must decide if breaking off from the lower class black community is beneficial to advancement as a community.

i'm saying it's not as complicated as you make it seem. there needs to be a nationwide movement by upwardly mobile black people to pull away from the ghetto trash. yes, i understand that there are many good blacks in poor neighborhoods. but, that can no longer be our problem, because the majority in the ghettos don't want help. they want to wallow in degradation and filth, all the while blaming their poverty on everyone but themselves.

middle and upper-middle class black people need to unite and say "enough is enough" to the behavior of poor black people. i think doing so, and doing it in a loud and public way, will do wonders for those of us -- black people with something to live for -- who are trying to push this community forward.

It took me a while to come to this conclusion as well. I am no longer the ooey gooey excuse-making bleeding heart liberal that I was 13 years ago. We are at the point where we are all tapped out. The black ghetto has received more than its fair share of lectures, funding, donations, set aside privileges etc...enough is enough already. I am at the point of leaving them to their own devices. If the good poor blacks want want to join us, then they are more than welcome to build themselves up and get with the program. But I have completely wiped my hands clean and have drawn a line in the sand.

Truth be told, this woman did her best Bill Cosby impression. He's been saying the same things for years now.

As a guy who sees everything in black and white. That's exactly the problemo, too much us vs them and generalization, and blaming each other. It's a worldwide Ego battle.

This is disgusting because a teacher is one of the ones in a position to make changes. It's obvious this person had no intentions to better her students because she obviously had them all stereotyped. So instead of trying to reach the students and better their lives, she posted st0rmfr0nt fodder online to further perpetuate the stereotypes ahe listed. I had teachers in school that went above and beyond to reach students, and everyone loved those types of teachers. You also had teachers like the one in the op that got no respect because she obviously had to regard for her students. On the flipside, we do need to do more to get kids off the streets.
