She was a teacher in NY(the bluest of blue). She's 85 years old without an income....why would she pay more? This is a stupid argument. I could go look up her annual Boces pension online if you'd like(it's not a lot)
Private insurers arent going to compete with an institution they're already in cohoots with. Especially with Medicare.

Why would a private insurer want to compete with medicare? Last I heard capitalism is about making money....so it makes no sense for any private insurer to go that low even if medicare was out the picture...unless someone is in the business of going bankrupt...
Basically, Medicare has a monopoly because nobody else wants that business.
