:camby:You obviously know nothing of the pay structures of medical insurance. State Insurance (Medicaid) and age insurance (Medicare) pay less than commercial insurances, who in turn lower their pay rates. If anything, they have a deflationary effect on costs.

:snoop: Honestly, I just need to come to grips with the fact that $$$$ is the only cost recognized by liberals. Its a recurring theme in multiple discussions.

That said, you don't need to raise prices to have a monopoly. You can be helping people, providing the lowest cost and still be a monopoly. That's neither here nor there.:shaq2:

:heh: @ wal-mart doing the same thing(lowering cost) and being called a monopoly(which it isnt) and despised. :deadrose:

:troll:I guess there's other ways to measure cost than money. Care to enlighten me?

I'm not a liberal, conservative or libertarian. I think all ideologies have good and bad points, but i know that politicians are inherently corrupt and are just puppets for their money masters.

It's unfettered corporatism(which in practice is the same thing). Govt pulling the strings of private companies.:manny:

As a simple exercise, ask yourself this: what low cost insurer is there to compete against Medicare/Medicaid?:leostare:

What the fukk are you talking about? This man is using medicaid as a choice. If he didn't want to use medicaid, he could get private insurance.

These dudes have no morals. I love how he tries to liken participating in a government program to FOLLOWING THE FUKIN LAW.

:dwillhuh: So government creates these monopolies(which obamacare will become as well) so there are no other options, and then points at people who use it like "see you support it"...:ohhh:

:bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan:

So a wealthy politician has no other options?

Oh your just talking about the 1% ...:ohhh:

Makes sense:ehh: :heh:

No, I'm talking about more typically wealthy people. The average House of Representatives member makes about $650,000 a year (of which their gov. salary is only maybe $170,000.) Do you think he has no choice but to use Medicaid for his family? And let's assume he was only making $170,000. Would he then have no choice? I'm wondering at what income level you think the choice is lost, since you seem to be defending this man.

It's not, at all. For starters, a monopoly = no other options. Most Americans don't even have access to Medicaid :what: I.e. instead of it being the only option, it isn't an option at all. So right off the jump you don't know what you're talking about.

If you actually stopped to flesh out the right wing talking points you seem to spew w/o thought you prob wouldn't be so quick to c00n for the GOP w/such vigor. You heard someone say "Medicare is a monopoly" and ran with it

:patrice: The GoP has nothing to do with it, and I acknowledged there were options.

Medicare’s market leverage enables it to purchase medical care much more cheaply than private insurers do, and the government uses this clout to drive down prices as a way of controlling costs. Because Medicare represents such a large share of the overall insurance market, hospitals and doctors typically treat Medicare patients even when they might refuse to accept a patient from a private insurer paying the same rate. In theory you are right, in practice, for the poor and the elderly, it is very much a monopoly.

But I could be wrong:ehh:,name the companies competing against government in low cost insurance and i'll check it out. :ld: you could right and the state is getting a run for its money somewhere.

Why am I in there? I advocate socialist policies. Anyone who posts here will tell you that. I'm against the ACA because it's a Republican corporate plan, created by Republicans, funded by health insurance companies and stifles the progress towards universal health care.

So, again, why am I there?
U know what I had u confused with @Trip
