Think it really depends on artist. Definitely doesn't apply to everyone. I remember seeing a lot of astroworld vinyls. It's a cadd by case basis and I don't think it's an age thing.

Travis Scott is huge on merch. Vinyl to a Travis Scott fan is just more merch. Rap was onto something when they were eating off bundles. Now that that's fallen by the wayside, it won't reflect on the sales.

BTW fellas if you order a vinyl record for any upcoming new albums this year or early next year you're out of luck. The vinyl factories are locked up for the next 8 months due to pumping out Taylor Swift's album. This is a juggernaut event, very impressive.

I hope a lot of rappers take notes about this. Last minute album releases (Drake) or being so secretive you don't have physicals/vinyl ready day one (Kendrick) isn't helping rappers anymore. The goal should be to run the numbers up with all the tools available to you.
