As far as sales goes, country has like 4 artists popping ever year, which you can tell by their awards. They have 1 new artist with buzz like 3 times per decade. Most of their artists are old artists for old people.
Who is there Kendrick? Cole? Drake? Wale? Ross? All of them are bundled up into Taylor Swift.
Hiphop has like 20+ artists that are popping right now.
As far as them not being very digital, country in 2011 sold more records than pure rap.
But hiphop sold more digitally if we look at proportion you would've thought that they lived in the early 20s compared to hiphop. When they bundle hiphop/rnb together cause all the different mixes of these genres, hiphop is still the second biggest after rock and no one comes close,
#3 is country about 50% less.
