If you aren't visibly of African descent then you're not going to be considered black.

Never said it was just for moral reasons, but the idea that they fought the war because they were jealous of cheap labor is beyond idiotic. They were free to purchase slaves of their own if they wanted cheap labor.

They didn't have more money than south. Let's say they did. The south was forming a huge economic profitable machine. So yes in pretty much most American wars if somebody was doing better than you. Then you try to take over.
