One other reason why the production costs where so high yet didn't have the money to pay the actors is maybe they were award chasing. Maybe they hired the best in the business for everything to get awards for something and they stiffed the actors.

That being said whatever happened everything had to be In The Contract. So If Taraji wanted a driver she should've asked for one, needed better trailers ask for that upfront, and most importantly wanted more moeny ASK FOR THAT upfront.
