Tales of vesperia is one of my all time favorites.

Just to Berseria is my favorite Tales game. The cast as a whole is probably the best party I've ever played as in a JRPG. As individuals they are all just ok but they all come together to form a group that's greater than any of the individuals.

The mental assault the main character goes through in the last 3rd of the game is amazing. It's also refreshing to play a JRPG where you aren't necessarily the good guys.

Now there was some cheap game design on the open fields but it did so much right I forgive it.

There is no victory screen after battle. Battles begin immediately upon encountering an enemy, and if you win, you return to the field immediately. However, you can enjoy conversations between characters on the field post-battle.
