So they gave him a 4 million dollar loan then 15% of earnings. Imagine getting 4 cold hard millions in cash assets and all you can do is buy buggatis and big ass chains. Embarrassing. Could have had that money working for you. And not even cared about the shyt contract.

Time and time again people show n prove that just being given money won't change your life if you have no value or discipline about it. Poverty is as much a state of mind as an economic hurdle.

This man was 18 and probably the first person in his family to see over 40k it’s easy to arm chair how a person should be and move

Yeah, but once you’re T-Pain - international superstar (thanks in large part to that $40 mil), the world opens up to you and deals fall from the sky like manna.

You don’t just get famous and get deals, you also have to have capital to put in and be ready to sit on it for years, and also discern good and bad deals, cuz it’s gon be more bad than good

It's easy to keep making the same excuses when hip hop is over 50 with the same contractual pitfalls still ensnaring people because they won't do their homework. You can serve and die at 18. You can read a contract at 18 or hire someone else to. The idea that there an excuse for ignorance is why the industry continues to prey on and finesse artists. Nobody cares bout those excuses

Again easy to arm chair this in your older age, that man made a decision because many don’t come, especially from the music industry so you get on to get on

This actually isn't that far-fetched considering T-Pain blew up at the peak of the ringtone era and while music sales were in the toilet. Labels were probably desperate to sign him because there was a clear path to revenue.
