I'd reckon you are correct on this.

Unfortunately, Assad's actions provided an incredible strong basis for international opposition to his regime. And the U.S. took advantage of this.

Opposition to Assad and opposition to U.S. interference in their governmental processes is not allowed in most mainstream outlets.

What exactly did the US do...? Turkey were the ones backing the rebels, not the US.

We have literally armed the "former" al-Qaeda "rebels," we have un-designated them as terrorists, we control NATO, Turkey has been an intelligence outpost of the U.S. state department for the last few decades, and pressure has been mounted by Israel (U.S. outpost in every sense of the word)

Assad and his whole family are pieces of shyt…not sure I follow what this thread is suggesting
Assad was a bad and his regime was horrific.

The United States, Turkey and Israel have spent decades trying to overthrow his regime, end any resistance to Israel's occupation and control of the Golan Heights, crush all resistance by the Palestinians, and stop any remaining vestige of third-world resistance to U.S. hegemony in the region - which Assad occasionally provided a roadblock to.

They look alike. It is just that one of them shaves and gets regular hair cuts.

Be careful with these random Twitter posts. Some of these pictures/videos have nothing to do with Syria :comeon:

Yes, this was a decade ago when the civil war just started and the opposition to Assad was made up of many different groups, not just Islamists. I'm asking about the U.S. arming the main rebel group that just took over.

Still designated as a terrorist group.

It was proscribed as a terrorist group by the UN, the US, Turkey and other countries - and it remains so.

You've got me - we still designate them a terrorist group - even easier to sever ourselves from them after the state descends into chaos after we funnel hundreds of millions of dollars to them :patrice:

The rebels are a collective group and the "main" group is literally named in the article.

The west will never learn that these dictators are the lesser of 2 evils.

Now watch the country get destroyed.

Right in line with Iraq, and Libya. SMH. Democracy don’t work in that part of the world.
AmeriKKKa just voted in Donald Trump & sided with Æl Qæda.

Western Imperialism is not rational.
