"Symbolism." :mjlol:

Man I don't even blame Kendrick at this point. Folks have been eating up his performative militancy since TPAB. Plant a bunch of eastereggs and let the content creators go wild over the subversion while he disappears until the next roll out.

At some point you're supposed to grow out of being impressed by this. It's pacifying and ignores the real game (economics/political influence) being played out here. For all his messages... what has he changed? What has he inspired? With regard to hip-hop, nothing he's done is in the stratosphere of "The Story of OJ" or the Dame Dash "cookies" breakfast club interview that spawned a whole wave of black economic empowerment discussions within the community that we're seeing/seen play out in real-time. Real change in the right direction vs. some momentary feel good music.

Surprising coming from OP since I know you tune into Diamond Dave.
Cashapp commercials :wow: :mjlol:

Jay-Z and Dame are full of shyt too

Nothing activists about any of them

Black Empowerment
This performance was sponsored by a company that is really big on controlling political rhetoric (Apple) in those it pays (Jon Stewart is a good example).

It wouldnt be much different than having all this symbolism and it was sponsored by Disney, or painting the Sistine chapel being sponsored by the Catholic church. You know what taking money from those organizations means.

Sometimes the art and symbolism go from being powerful and relevant to being just entertainment because of who youre taking money from.

I understand why he did it, but he's also not so stupid to understand what taking the money actually means.

People diving into fake deep pools head first and we surprised they sounding concussed with all this new age conspiracy crap :pachaha:

As an artist, if you have something to say to us, then fukking say it. Ain't no one trying to look for Easter Eggs in a 15 minute performance. This is the sort of shyt that gets dumb smart nikkas excited

If Public Enemy was on that stage their message wouldn't have been hidden under 10 layers of crap. If Dead Prez or YG were on stage we know what's up

Trump and co have been in our face explicitly telling us what they about. It's out in the open. And you telling me Kendrick Lamar's riposte is to insinuate via secret code that "omg the next 4 years are about to be horrible"? Gee, thanks man. Had no idea. Would have helped if you just told us that instead of huffing and puffing in between 30 men dressed in red white and blue :unimpressed:

But then again I blame George Bush. If we left kids behind until they demonstrated the ability to read and process novels and shyt, then adults today wouldn't be impressed by fake deep shallow musical performances backed by pseudo-potent lines from Samuel Jackson
This should’ve been /thread

As we’ve seen people “caring” about politics, civil rights etc is a performative act. They move on to the next topic very fast. You ask people what they are doing for change….crickets

You ask them to come together for change…crickets. You see it on here all the time. The Dem vs MAGA debates are nothing more than “fun” & “entertainment”

Of course it’s a lot of people who missed the message & it’s because they don’t care. They aren’t in the mood to care :yeshrug:

The biggest symbolism was the Eagle (the symbol of strength, freedom and pride) defeated and embarrassed the Chief (commander in chief/president).

Kendrick being the halftime entertainment was perfect for the occasion.

I’ve never seen another halftime performer mention 40 acres and a mule.

So why is viewcount on this performance so high? 30 million views in a day? And the comments are 90% positive.
That means nothing. Over 100 million people watched the super bowl.

The comments are from his core supporters.
So he failed to entertain EVERYONE in the stadium and those watching at home.:comeon:
The majority, yes.

People have to step outside their bubbles.

Remember when folks wrote soliloquys discussing the prince and dr dre halftime shows? Yea me neither

Yeah. It was either dope or it was not. Same with Usher

Now we gotta decipher the third entendre behind one of the lyrics in Peekaboo said as Kendrick touched one of the dancers wearing white (omg that symbolizes the lack of fear in the white man)

Absolutely embarrassing someone’s 15 minute set at a sporting event is being discussed like it’s a Shakespearean epic.
