A rapper whose career is managed by venture capitalists performing on behalf of racist billionaire owners for a notoriously racist league being touted as a freedom fighter because he made people feel more intelligent (key word “feel) but not actually do anything organizational or actionable is peak 2025 activism.

As long a rapper or artist can pretend to be deep so their fans can be pretend to be smarter than someone else, they might as well be Malcolm X, their love of white women be damned.

“S-see I-i-i caught all those messages because I’m a revolutionary too :youngsabo: now let me get back to my fight in the comment section and paying $1000 for my Kendrick and SZA tickets, if you’ll excuse me”

If ppl went back and looked at his part in the West Coast LA Halftime Show they would know what to expect with him. Also he performs the same way at his concerts. Very little flash but a lot of symbolism.

I really just watched to laugh at the Drake slander. Maybe it's because I'm in my 30's but all this hidden symbolism isn't impressive to me like that anymore.

Be direct or say something direct that is clear and understood. If you're trying to make a statement, come out with everyone kneeling or end the show with everyone kneeling, something that is clear and understood with all disrespect intended. You got folks up there crip walking, you can take a clear and direct shot and be flagrantly disrespectful.

"Symbolism." :mjlol:

Man I don't even blame Kendrick at this point. Folks have been eating up his performative militancy since TPAB. Plant a bunch of eastereggs and let the content creators go wild over the subversion while he disappears until the next roll out.

At some point you're supposed to grow out of being impressed by this. It's pacifying and ignores the real game (economics/political influence) being played out here. For all his messages... what has he changed? What has he inspired? With regard to hip-hop, nothing he's done is in the stratosphere of "The Story of OJ" or the Dame Dash "cookies" breakfast club interview that spawned a whole wave of black economic empowerment discussions within the community that we're seeing/seen play out in real-time. Real change in the right direction vs. some momentary feel good music.

Surprising coming from OP since I know you tune into Diamond Dave.

I'm going to sound ignorant, but..........................................nobody cares. These people screaming out LOOK AT THE MESSAGE don't understand. At the Super Bowl people just want to be entertained. Which he failed to do.

He went on the white man’s stage to give a performance that only we would fully understand.
Part of being an artist is being relatable and able to convey your message to the masses.

With Kendrick his fans just fill in the blanks and call him so deep and artistic but he never actually connects the dots.

I’m not one to be bothered by violent lyrics. But you can’t have half your set about tearing down other black men in the formation of an american flag, then tell me this was a fukk you to white folks :dahell:
