Nintendo don't need PS5 level power to innovate. Breath of the Wild is one of the most influential games of the decade running on weak hardware.
Most of these AAA games on PS5/Xbox ain't doing shyt new with all that powerful hardware. Boring ass tired game mechanics but them puddles look fire though
Nah this is going to be more than a Switch pro in the sense that this next console will actually be able to run PS4 games and possibly get some PS5 ports in the first few years like the Switch did with PS4 ports. People do have to manage their expectations and realize that Nintendo won't sell a 500+$ console for the sake of keeping up with Playstation and Xbox performance wise when the Switch vastly outsold the concurrence without having to do that anyway.People gotta come to terms with the idea that this will be more like a “switch pro” than an entire new console generation
Good points. It's insane because the current Switch is below what a Base PS4 is. The best-case scenario for Switch 2 is PS4 Pro docked and PS4 on handheld. Because of handheld being
Since PlayStation started making consoles, Nintendo has dominated the handheld market and only had big sales for the Wii. Which we know was mostly cause of the casual market. Nintendo is in a different lane than Microsoft and Sony. Plus Japan has been big on handheld and mobile for quite a while. Nintendo ain't changing what they do.
A big part of the Switch is affordability and when you add battery life they aren't all out to do that.
Plus, Nintendo knows how to make their games look good when you consider the hardware they are on. TOTK and Xenoblade 3 being the notable ones. The thing though, if you consider the GameCube and the Wii were 11 years at the same power level and Wii U and Switch will be 13 years at the same power. There is no way that the next Switch won't have a power boost since the Switch 2's lifespan can be as long as Switch 1 if not longer is they play their cards right.
Another thing people are not saying is the amount of 3rd party games that can come out on the Switch 2 if handheld is PS4 level. While yes a lot of brehs here have already played those games, but the catalog for the PS4 is insane. Plus I still think Cross-Gen games are a thing.
I'm trying to figure out why Nintendo won't push the envelope on graphics/power and games that really display it....like a Mario but instead of looking like Disney, it looks like some Pixar shyt.
Nintendo to gaming is like apple to the phone game.Honestly, what innovative nintendo games have come out? BoTW as much as i love it really aped all these new mechanics from western games, lets be honest. They threw some far cry and skyrim mechanics and made it open world and suddenly nitnedo redefined gaming lol
Nintendo be on the same formulaic bullshyt the rest of the industry is on, yall just like it more when its starring mario or pikachu.
yall be glazing miyamoto
I doubt any actual PS5 games come to switch 2. And switch 1 actually got very few PS4 portsNah this is going to be more than a Switch pro in the sense that this next console will actually be able to run PS4 games and possibly get some PS5 ports in the first few years like the Switch did with PS4 ports.
The difficult part of this is that nintendo usually has some new control or display gimmick that makes the new console worthwhile.People do have to manage their expectations and realize that Nintendo won't sell a 500+$ console for the sake of keeping up with Playstation and Xbox performance wise when the Switch vastly outsold the concurrence without having to do that anyway.
They would just be shooting themselves in the foot with a move like this. They have stopped focusing on graphical performance since the Wii era, following the poor selling of the Gamecube and N64 which were actually up to par with the competition, and have mostly seen success since. Nobody today expects to see the latest graphical showcase like GTA 6 running on their next console, people buying a Switch mostly want to see what will the next Nintendo games look like, 3rd party games are mostly a bonus for Nintendo unlike Playstation.
What leaks ? We have known some of the specs for months now and the next console will definitely run games at PS4 level already in handheld mode. This reddit thread show some of them in detailsI doubt any actual PS5 games come to switch 2. And switch 1 actually got very few PS4 ports
From leaks it looks like the switch 2 will barely match the power of PS4 and the PS4 has already been dropped by most current gen games.
Maybe someone will take the time to go back and port some PS4 games to switch, but that will be a difficult ask, considering switch 2 install base will be low for a while.

It seems this consoles selling point will literally be smoother switch games.
I’m not convinced the masses will pay for marginally better graphics in the way they adopted the switch 1.
Time will tell

The question is rather how big will be the gap with the current PS5/Xbox series X generation. Don't forget that a lot of Playstation games were cross gens between PS4 and PS5 until last year, the performance gap between each generation is getting smaller. As for other handhelds like the Steam Deck they're pretty powerful, but kinda overrated by their fans, the Steam Deck itself is actually barely on the level of a PS4 performance wise and doesn't run recent big games very well.
The Switch didn't get a lot of PS4 ports and their quality went from kinda good to terrible but that was just an example to say that considering its success, we can expect 3rd party developers to promote some of their game on the next console, even if it's a downgraded version. Everything isn't about performance, it's mostly about what will benefit them the most. The Switch is the 2nd highest selling console of all time and might end up being 1st, i don't expect a lot of current generation games to come but i think there will definitely be some because there's money to be made for them.
Digital foundry seams to think around PS4 level will be best case scenario.
The steam deck is priced more than nintendo usually prices their consoles, so unless we think Nintendo is gonna sell a $5-600 console. Steam deck performance is probably the absolute most anyone should expect from switch 2 if not less when it comes to considering battery life.
Most current gen games don’t work on steam deck or they are severely compromised beyond what people would accept on a home console.
So PS4 level or under should be the expectation. They said PS4 Pro level Dock is too much wishful thinking. But the Switch 2 should be a notable upgrade from the first Switch.
