I say give the American people what they want. They don't care about privacy or Chinese spying.

Let Tiktok stay and let China keep doing it's predatory practices :yeshrug:

they groomed an entire generation not to give a damn about data privacy and now they're crying wolf about it.

i remember for well over a decade LEO constantly lobbied against encryption and had so many hearings in congress about it, afraid of going "dark" so they can't spy on americans. then they discovered U.S telecom companies were hacked and a ton of data was stolen, now they're recommending americans use encrypted apps to communicate which is what every security professional have been arguing for the past 2+ decades. fukking 🤡's

Then in a few years we will have functionally retarded individuals hit with TikTok brain rot.

It's not about Americans rights, it's about China operating an unethical company and taking advantage of America's openness. If they want to operate their social media openly here, let us operate openly there.

it's absolutely about american rights when the u.s intervenes to ban a platform because they don't like what content americans can see, say or share on it.

right like americans can sell cars in china but china's EV's are banned in america or have massive tariffs thats basically a defacto ban.

Sorry that I want America to act like a nation, and not a free trade zone with barely existent borders. :yeshrug:

by policy the government did nothing about app store policies and locked bootloaders on android devices around 2015. the EU is the reason apple ios will have third party installers and samsung devices as well as other android devices all have unlocked bootloaders in the EU.

locked bootloaders basically killed rom development in the u.s when people of all ages were tinkering and rooting their devices for more control over them. app stores allow remote parties to take away apps and keep users from having install files.

with microsoft TPM they'll eventually want to make the desktop/laptop experience as locked down as the mobile experience. too many people haven't experienced computing freedom due to the digital divide and are basically groomed through locked down platforms to accept awful terms and conditions, privacy invasive default settings etc.

when damn near every app people install have asked for access to their location, internet, microphone, camera and contacts they've basically been groomed to give away information the statsi could only dream of.

If we’re being real, most people don’t care about most of this stuff if they’re enjoying TikTok.

Additionally, the usual TikToker isn’t on Twitter as much as people think. A lot of people on Twitter, liking posts on Twitter are basically mad they can’t get anything going on TikTok or now Rednote.

It takes a certain expertise or charisma to get traction on TikTok and a lot of people frankly don’t want to read a bunch of text, especially when the text is not accurate either. A lot of times Twitter feels “too indoors” for people on TikTok while insta/meta many people feel is very restrictive/manipulative and markety anyways.

I see a lot of people like this online, but they can’t control what people are going to do.

it's much easier for bots to operate on text/photo based social media platforms. i read on tiktok all they can really do is pay influencers but thats pretty obvious in most cases. lots of scandals about russia paying tiktok influencers in russia and various other countries.

whats ironic is there are many creators on tiktok who don't say anything but lipsync various audio tracks or just dance.
dancing removes all language barriers

That’s what’s funny. I updated my original post to mention that many people bitter about TikTok are basically pissed they can’t get started on the platform nor have the charisma to be in front of the camera so they have to stay in the previous “meta” of social media.

However, all they need to do is get decent with finding video clips and A.I text voiceovers and they can probably blow up bigger than their current Twitter account. They don’t even got to be in front of the camera annd if they were, all they’d have to do is stand in front of a camera and make a pointing gesture to the next slide/voiceover. After posting the video they can reply in text to all the comments they want. I’m guessing it’s a good thing most of those smooth brains didn’t realize that.

:what: I don’t use it, but what is the reason for it not being readily available for anyone that wants to use it in America?
Politicians told them it's bad .

It's because they can't control the narrative.
Lot of the anti Israel , Israel is committing genocide info came from tiktok .
All that stealing data talk is bs . It's about control and that's all it is .

It will get worse . Every app they don't like for some reason will somehow get axed .
We are going to have state controlled media soon. Mark my words
