Nah, I think their goal is minority rule over the majority. Now that Roe is gone, if they remove the filibuster bill they will quickly do all the zany things they desired. The crazy wing is now the GOP.
That’s the same thing. Mississippi, a state with declining population, has equal say in stopping federal gun laws in a state like California who has more population in half its territory.

Want to pass climate change legislation to save the coast, nah. The Bible Belt guarantees Dems never get to 60 to end debate.

Sometimes I think liberals can hear and read all the rhetoric about how awful Republicans are and understand it. But they fail to understand the perspective of why Republicans are doing the things they do. Republicans perspective is that they are under existential threat by demonic radicals and any and every measure including violence is on the table. They are no longer thinking in a political terms. They are thinking in Civil War terms. They are reaching a point they would love to be able to gun their "enemies" in the street. The time for debate and following the traditional rules of politics is over.

Everything and anything for their side to win will be done and there is nothing democrats can do, politically, will stop it. Like you said, once they take office there will be no debate or consideration of whether they should remove the filibuster if it becomes an obstacle. They will do it quickly and move on enacting their agenda.

It's hard to understand because (at least to me) it's so irrational. I don't really understand why they feel so threatened.

Demographics? I mean conservative white people already have a disproportionate amount of political power and wealth compared to anyone else.

And apparently that's not enough? At times it's hard (just speaking for myself) to really understand what the fukk they're so mad about. :dahell:

Its not

They will use federal powers to do as much damage as they please. “States rights” was always bullshyt. They would do something like federally ban abortions.

They can use federal power to not stop a corporation from dumping sewage in fresh water by simply not taking a vote or putting someone in a cabinet position who will allow it.

The GOP didn’t even bother making a new platform at their convention cause they aren’t about anything. The Contract with America days are gone. States rights is BS cause it’s not all states.

I think it started as a cultural grift for votes but now those voters have grown up and have bought in and pushing out the non-believers.

Uncertain grounds
Real talk we knew they were going act out because of their "dwindling numbers" now we see it.

i think the amount of white people concerned about "dwindling numbers" is being a bit overstated

yes the outright white identity extremists have always talked about the amount of white people in the country

but no, a significant amount of white people dont give a shyt

I recently found out that a family member worked for the HC campaign before retiring and moving back to NC. She begged the higher ups to have HC campaign in Michigan. She kept harping to them about internal polling numbers in the state that they chose to ignore. She's still salty about this shyt today. You mention HC or 2016 and she's liable to throw something at you the way the late Marvelous Marvin Hagler talked about how he threw stuff at TVs when the Leonard fight got mentioned or was on.

Yep. Hillary lost the election. Because she took the Black vote for granted.

Honestly this is the 1st time I've heard of such a thing. Isn't every Christian denomination using Jewish law as a basis to say it's a sin to have an abortion?

Interesting. :ohhh:

This is interesting. This court has never met a religious liberty case it didn't like. I wonder what kind of fukkery would happen if a Jewish group sues on behalf of roe on the basis of religion. The Republicans wouldn't dare say anything too crazy about Jewish people like they would against Muslims.

Jewish religious freedoms and political influence vs the GOP. That would be something to watch

So RvW doesn't survive due to the DoI and 14th Amendment, but because of the 1st and 14th Amendment. :ohhh:

But then would only Jews and Muslims benefit? :jbhmm:

They’ll just decline to hear it and let the lower conservatives court ruling stand. They’ll dodge it as long as they can.

I hope we get a super leftward courts one of these years. I'd love to see what happens if they scale back the 2nd amendment because the words semi automatic and concealed carry don't appear in the constitution just like abortion doesn't appear in the constitution.
The founding fathers all had guns so they would love to have a gun today.

Originalism :blessed:
