Supergirl Merges With CW Earth One In Flashpoint? And Other DC TV Rumours - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movie, TV News

The word is going to be out soon, what with the four DC CW casts for Arrow, Supergirl, DC Legends Of Tomorrow and Flash all filming together right now….

It has been established that Arrow, DC Legends Of Tomorrow and Flash all take place in the same fictional universe, but Supergirl is from another dimension who has to cross over.

As of the upcoming Flashpoint crossover storyline, Supergirl will now be a part of the main DC TV universe. Only Barry Allen will know that they were once separate… any remaining continuity issues will be handwaved as “a time traveller did it”.

Also in Supergirl, We know Metallo is the bad guy but they are introducing a new Metallo 2 character. Both Superman and J’onn J’onnz will fight him, while Supergirl deals with the original Metallo on her own, elsewhere

We've known for a while now that the events of "Flashpoint" will change the entire DC TV Universe, and while Grant Gustin has confirmed that The Flash won't remain in that new world forever, that doesn't mean everything will go back to being exactly how it was before (hence why Reverse-Flash is going to be a villain in Legends of Tomorrow). However, Bleeding Cool has today revealed the biggest and most exciting change as this event will apparently be what brings Supergirl permanently to Earth-1.

The character currently hails from another dimension which The Flash inadvertently visited a while back, but "As of the upcoming Flashpoint crossover storyline, Supergirl will now be a part of the main DC TV universe. Only Barry Allen will know that they were once separate… any remaining continuity issues will be handwaved as 'a time traveller did it.'" What this means is that Superman and Supergirl have always been part of The CW-verse, and this makes that upcoming crossover easier!

Are you excited to see Supergirl's world merged with the one Green Arrow and The Flash call home?

This Superman looks horrible.. the guy from Ripley's Believe it or Not looked better as Superman

So they kill off Suicide Squad on Arrow due to the movie... didn't let Harley appear in Arrow due to the movie.... wouldn't let Nightwing appear for w/e reason.... won't put Batman on any of these shows but they put their biggest character Supes in a emo TV show

What is really going on DC

:wow: On top of that, there is no live action Teen Titans coming anytime soon. DC likes shooting itself in the foot at times.:mjcry:

Supergirl and The Flash will have musical crossover episodes

The CW’s Supergirl and The Flash will team up — musically — in a two-part episode airing during the second half of the 2016-17 TV season, it was announced on Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

“Yes, there will be a musical crossover,” executive producer Greg Berlanti said. “There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and The Flash.”

Supergirl and The Flash are fronted by Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin, both of whom are Glee alumni. Supergirl‘s Jeremy Jordan and The Flash‘s Jesse L. Martin, meanwhile, are among those who also boast singing chops. Berlanti also cited Arrow‘s John Barrowman and Legends of Tomorrow‘s Victor Garber as musically gifted ensemble members.

Though Berlanti expects the characters to mostly sing preexisting tunes, “We have been talking about trying to write at least one original song per episode.”

As for what will tee up the special event, Berlanti said, “We’ve toyed with who potentially the villain could be,” and “we’ll be careful how we break into song,” hinting that some numbers could take place “in the characters’ heads.”

The Supergirl/Flash musical event is in addition to the four-way crossover airing late this fall across all four of The CW’s superhero programs.

Green Arrow, The Flash, the Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl will not be acquiring another superfriend in the foreseeable future.

“We weren’t expecting to have four [superhero shows] this season,” The CW president Mark Pedowitz told TVLine on Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, referring to the Girl of Steel’s arrival. “Supergirlcame thanks to the parent company [CBS] bringing it over to the CW — ‘I said where can I sign up?’ — so at this time, there are no real discussions about any [additional] superhero characters.”

Pedowitz did leave the door open a crack, though, saying that if a peripheral character on an existing series “pops,” you “reexamine the situation. But at this time there are no discussions” — save for the just-announced animated CW seed seriesFreedom Fighters: The Ray, which in success a la Vixen could result in a live-action version of that yet-to-be-cast character visiting a CW show.

Other topics covered during the CW boss’ TCA appearance:

* Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Supernatural all have 22-episode orders, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is back for 13 and Legends Season 2 currently has a 13-episode order which could grow. Returning midseason shows The Originals, The 100 and iZombie will be back for 13 episodes each, while Reign may get as many as 16.

* Asked to justify the renewal of low-rated Reign, Pedowitz said, “I like the idea of three queens.”

* Pedowitz admitted, “We made some mistakes” with Season 1 of Legends of Tomorrow. “We think this year we will correct it.”

* Pedowitz is under no illusion that Supergirl will pull the audience it did on a major broadcast network, but anticipates “it will probably be our No. 1 or No. 2 show” behind The Flash.

* Coming off Rachel Bloom’s TCA Award win, Pedowitz again touted Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin as “quality programs,” adding that he hopes the former gets a (needed) viewership bump as the result of Netflix catch-ups.

* Asked for the status of the Friday the 13th series the CW had eyeballed as a possible pilot, Pedowitz said, “We are not developing it at this time.” Similarly, thedystopian take on Little Women is not moving forward. A small-screen version ofThe Notebook, meanwhile, is seeking new writers.

Additionally, a first look poster for Legends of Tomorrow‘s Vixen aka Amaya Jiwe (played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers) was released prior to The CW’s TCA arrival:

The masterminds behind The CW superhero shows Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl andLegends of Tomorrow unleashed a litany of announcements — a musical crossover! casting news! — during the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday.

“One of the characters [on the four series] is going to be coming out,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed. EP Greg Berlanti added that it will be a “significant character.” (All signs are pointing to… Supergirl‘s *spoiler*!)

Other highlights from the session:

* New Supergirl series-regular Chris Wood will be playing Mon-El, who is in the Season 1 finale’s pod. Supergirl has also added Sharon Leal (Grimm, Hellcats) as Miss Martian.

* Legends of Tomorrow will introduce Lance Henriksen (Millennium) as Justice Society of America member Obsidian in Episode 5 of Season 2.

* In addition to Dr. Alchemy, The Flash‘s other Big Bad for Season 3 will be the speedster Savitar.

* “This is the last year of flashbacks” on Arrow, which will move to Russia, EP Marc Guggenheim confirmed. “It’s going to involve Oliver’s introduction into the Bratva. He’s basically recruited into this criminal organization. In the present day, he has recruits of his own. He’s a trainee in the past and a trainer in the present.”

* Speaking about whether actors from the other DC shows will appear in the Flash/Supergirl musical crossover, Berlanti acknowledged it was a possibility. “There’s a lot of time travel shows this year,” he said. “There’s only one time travel show where Victor Garber will be singing ‘Edelweiss’ to a bunch of Nazis. That is happening on [Legends].”

* Kevin Smith will direct an episode of Supergirl and another Flash installment.

One of the biggest reveals from The CW’s superhero-themed Television Critics Association panel Thursday was also its cagiest: A “significant” character on either Arrow, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow or The Flash will come out as gay, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced.

So… who might it be?

Though Berlanti isn’t saying, buzz favors Supergirl‘s Winn, played by Jeremy Jordan. Might Winn, while licking his wounds as the odd man out on the Kara/Jimmy triangle, come to a realization? Or might Kara’s sister Alex (Chyler Leigh), who seemed to keep ardent admirer Maxwell Lord at arm’s length during Season 1, share sparks of multiple kinds with metahuman-chasing National City PD detective Maggie Sawyer?

“We had a character who we had discussed as a possibility last year internally, and it didn’t materialize,” Berlanti told reporters after the panel. “We didn’t get to the story. We just didn’t have enough real estate to deal with it in the way that we wanted to deal with it. So this year, when we were planning this season, we said to the network and the studio that it was a priority for us and everyone was cool with it.”

He added: “And obviously, because the character hadn’t been gay, we hadn’t necessarily discussed it with the actor, too.” That actor or actress, the EP noted, was on board with the change.

Berlanti confirmed that the character is someone who is currently on one of the series — “It’s not a new character that’s been added” — and that it is not Arrow‘s Curtis or Legends‘ Sara, both of whom are established LBGT characters.

The EP stressed that the development would be handled so “it feels real to us and that it feels real that this character could have been struggling with not expressing this, and then real as they start to discover it, and then, obviously, real as they settle into being who they really are.” — With reporting by Vlada Gelman
