Bleeding Cool rumors about what will be announced at the SDCC this week:

Kate Kane (Batwoman), will appear on Supergirl in a recurring role. She will be Maggie Sawyer's ex-girlfriend.

Barbara Gordon will appear as Oracle on Supergirl. Barbara will develop a strong friendship with Kara/Supergirl.

The Oracle/Batwoman relationship is going to be modeled after the original Chuck Dixon Era Birds Of Prey, but with Kate Kane as the operative instead of Black Canary.

Good news from TV Line’s Michael Ausiello today: Containment actor Chris Wood has landed a series regular role in Supergirl Season 2!

The role is very secretive but is described by Ausiello as “a surprise DC character.”

Any guesses? Our first guess would have been Jim Harper (The Guardian), but he’s already appeared on the show. Agent Liberty? Perry White’s son? Pete Ross? A sexy version of Bibbo? Or a bigger name, like Hal Jordan?

Containment was a fantastic series, by the way, and Chris Wood’s role as Kai on The Vampire Diaries showed us all he can do evil and sadistic really well, too, so maybe he’s a bad guy. (Oooh… maybe he’s a Luthor?)

It is likely we will find out at Saturday’s Supergirl panel at Comic-Con. And of course, we’ll be reporting all of the Supergirl news from the convention here on KryptonSite! Follow us on Twitter as well.

It’s safe to say someone over at The CW is a big Chris Wood fan.

The veteran of Vampire Diaries, Carrie Diaries and, most recently, Containment, is joining Supergirl in a series-regular role that’s shrouded in secrecy, TVLine has learned exclusively. All that we know is that the actor will be playing a surprise DC Comics character, and that he’ll make his debut early into the series’ second season.

Supergirl has made a number of significant casting moves as it transitions from CBS to The CW, most notably tapping Teen Wolf‘s Tyler Hoechlin to guest-star as Superman. Other key hires include erstwhile Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, as president of Supergirl‘s United States, Cougar Town alum Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, a journalist appointed by Cat (Calista Flockhart) to serve as the editor-in-chief of CatCo Magazine, and Floriana Lima (The Family) as gay Metropolis Special Crimes Unit captain Maggie Sawyer.

Wood, meanwhile, recently landed a recurring role in the second season of PBS’ Civil War drama Mercy Street. He’ll play Lance Van Der Berg, a handsome Union captain lodging at the Green home, where he strikes up a budding romance with AnnaSophia Robb’s Alice.

Supergirl Season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c.

The show is called Supergirl, but the buzziest entrance at the CBS-to-CW series’ Comic-Con panel Saturday belonged to Tyler Hoechlin, aka Superman.

The super series hasn’t begun production on Season 2, so “I have not tried on the suit yet,” Teen Wolf alum Hoechlin told the crowd, who cheered loudly when he joined castmates Melissa Benoist, David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Mechad Brooks and Jeremy Jordan and executive producer Sarah Schechter on stage for the forward-looking discussion.

“That’ll be a moment, for sure,” Hoechlin added.

* Like any family members, Clark and Kara will clash — at least at first, Schechter said. “Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth,” the EP explained. “There’s some real head-butting and philosophical approaches that are different. We’ll get into all that.”

A few more tidbits from the talk:

* What brings the American president — played by Wonder Woman‘s Lynda Carter — into the mix? “Big things are happening,” Schechter teased. “Big things have to happen to get Superman and Supergirl together.”

* Schechter dropped this big hint about new cast addition Chris Wood (Containment): He’s the one in the pod Kara encountered in the Season 1 finale.

* The cast and EP talked with excitement about the show’s move from CBS to The CW — and future four-way crossovers with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. “There’s just a real shorthand. If you say ‘metahuman,’ they know what you’re talking about,” Schechter said.

* Benoist marveled at her first year in the tights and cape. “I honestly look back, and I don’t know how I did a lot of the things we did,” she said. “I feel like I’ve grown so much, kind of simultaneously along with Kara.”

* At Jordan’s insistence, Hoechlin mussed his hair so it approximated Superman’s signature forelock curl. “Oh my God, he’s Superman!” Brooks yelled in mock surprise.

* Brooks called the budding Kara-James romance “a workplace relationship. It’s a new relationship, it’s gonna have ups and downs and tumultuous things,” he added. “It’s weird, because I read [Episode] 201, and it starts with our wedding,” he joked. “I thought that was really fast.”

* Winn as a DEO staff member? Per Jordan, it could happen. “I think he’s looking for a straight-up job. I think it would make the DEO a little more fun,” he said. “It’s a little serious right now.”
