the difference is most ancient super teams were through the draft because of less teams. this is a lot different terrible comparison.

the chief and mchale were not picked up by boston via the draft.

i like the trend/idea of every team trying to create a superteam.

less yinka dare type motherfukkers,..on the court.

the rockets in 86 were a super team, too.

i like superteams,....

it makes the next gen of players apply themselves.
plus makes the quality if basketball higher as well.

as the league needs to brin back high iq players on the entire team.

not just corporate schlup'n schmoo's who get paid for not contributing.

Nor was Dennis Johnson, who was a former Finals MVP with the Sonics before coming to the Celtics.

For real, half of these clowns in here don't know jack shyt about the old super teams and how they were formed.

80 champs lakers
81 champs celtics
82 champs lakers
83 champs sixers
84 champs celtics
85 champs lakers
86 champs celtics
87 champs lakers
88 champs lakers
89 champs pistons

Only teams to make the finals in the 80's were pistons, lakers, celtics, rockets and sixers

2 from the west 3 from the east.5 teams total out of 22 were capable of winning a title

Expansion teams dilute the league not make it harder to win

/thread from 22, to what 30 NBA teams? You take out Charlotte, Detroit, New Orleans, Houston, Milwaukee, Washington, Phoenix, and the Knicks (:russ:) and suddenly you got a WAY more competitive league. Blame the owners, not the players for this evolution.

Tv ratings esp. In the playoffs and finals say otherwise

Yeah them ratings are good, but I wonder what attendance was like for all the other non-super teams in the league?

How the hell does anyone but the Lakers, Knicks, Heat, Celtics, Thunder, Spurs and Bulls make any money off this?

These arguments are strange to me. When people say they don't like super teams and they don't like that only a few teams have a realistic chance of winning it all, why would they have ever watched the NBA?

because it's not their team having a super team formed :heh: they mad but what they gonna do watch lacrosse ? :laff: they was watching when mike was running things right ? i was watching along with everybody else that had a team in the east when the west had shyt locked up for 12 + years nikkas gotta man up

Better question is how the hell did they expand after a decade dominated by 5 teams?

In my opinion it was just fun in the 90s seeing the little man catch breaks and almost do the unexpected. New york indiana orlando seattle, and maybe one or two more (bucks big three)
all provided a1 entertainment and had hope. Those teams today have zero chance

:usure: about them being "the little man". With all due respect to those teams NONE of them won titles. In the last 13 years we've had SA and Detroit win 5. You got OKC (which was Seattle) on the rise. Orlando went to a Finals 3 years ago. Indiana looks pretty good now. NO got Davis and Rivers. Pistons got Knight, Monroe, and Drummond. I mean nikkas acting like there are no stars or nikkas with potential outside of MIA, LA, NY.

i meant to say mchale and parrish.

glad you knew what i meant.

also,...that is very true about dj.

whom with ainge just by themselves was a super backcourt.

before you got to the bird/frankenburger/chief frontcourt.
then on the bench,..they had walton, and some other highly accredited high bball iq fire power.

yet i think boston pulled some gangsta funny business to get len bias's draft rights too. if bias would have never had a tragedy.

the celts could have moved bias to the two and really damaged anyone for years to come.

as no on would have had an answer for bias at the two with bird/mchale/chief and dj or ainge running the pg.

nobody else would have won another title, period.

so i like how the new teams are able to create super teams.

other than boston,.....

also, in the year 2000's, the lakers and pistons.

are the one's i cite as creating the superteams of this era.

as the lakers picked up payton, and mailman.

while the pistons picked up wallace.

plus drafted a cali bred prince,..who idolized and stopped kobe.

plus, they had ben wallace and rip via trade.

i forgot how they acquired smooth/billups,..but he was a bust journeyman.

so i forget because he moved around way to much for what he was by unactualized draft pedigree at that point.

i am enjoying all the teams are becoming equally balanced.

it isn't a bunch of busters and a superstar like the low bball iq era.

so,..i enjoy the roster building and threats.

the teams are trying to make.

the pistons to the clippers all have great little lineups.

i just worry about the pacers stock pile of wings amd sg's.

as they are clogging up their roster and backcourt with to much talent.

that should get to play way more.

plus be higher paid,...

imo,..they have so many great unactualized allstar talent at guard and sf.

with no imagination on how to properly use them.

in all reality,...i am a bron/wade fan.

yet real talk,..the pacers had firepower to still outproduce the heat from backcourt alone.

now maybe bird is gone,..thOse players can get out the doghouse and get more shine.

like their draft pedigree easily says they are supposed to.

imo,..the spurs should have traded away parker and kept hill.

as hill's size would have easily slowed westbrook down.

yet, in the indiana series,..the coach for indy could have went super big and mobile in the backcourt on paper.

then, stopped bron with an assortment of combo's in the back court with:

hill/lance
george
granger : coming back and rusty from injury

instead he played it to conservative and on some good ole boi bird fo hating shyt.

which cost the pacers when bron and wade finally clicked together.

not to mention on paper the pacers should have had a higher seed.

if bird did not hate on his roster, too.

i am all for the superteam roster making.

as long as the guys on the roater are allowed to produce.

it is crazy watching benches and seeing superstar kinda guys.

with no real tick,.....
